It was tested with almost perfect ratings all around....I havent heard anyone comment on these and they are good, and relatively cheap tires. Can anyone give me some insight on this? Im from So Cal so I wont be driving too much in the rain, I am going more for grip and handling than anything else. Thanks everyone!

Does anyone know if the Yokohama yk520s got replaced with a different model number? I can't find them very easy and tire rack doesn't have them. I love tire rack and I want it from there but I doubt they would not carry such a good tire. That is why I think they changed the model number because some other ones look like a similar tread. HELP!

However, Yokohama just came out with a W-rated Avid. I've been very happy with the V-rated Avid and will probably move to the Ws in another year. They're so new, however, that there aren't any reviews on tirerack (yet).

I just got the kumho Ecsta MX's summer tires. What a difference good tires can make! I think its the best investment I made to the car and for 110 usd, you cant go wrong. I tried yoko es100(on rsx) and REs(also rsx) but I gotta say the Kumhos take the lead. After the MX's gets warmed up, the tires feel like race tires... sticks like glue to the ground, improved my cornering and accelation dramatically. Look at the ratings http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=0 They also offer the MX's in all season, great value for amazing tires.

Tire Size
Did you guys stick with the OEM tire size (215/50/17) with stock rims. Im still riding with stock rims and was wondering if 225/45/17 tires would fit. Thanks all.
Im at about 28000 mi. i might be able to get away with 1 more tire rotation.

I had those Avons on my WRX and they were terrible with wear. As for the aformentioned Michelins MXM4s I had those on my GLI and they were terrible if you ever got snow and they wore fast. They are definately not worth the price.
A good overall tire you might want to check out is the Continental ContiExtreme Contacts.

I'm running 225/45/17 RE050A-PP on my lowered Accord coupe EX on 17x7j +46mm rims, no rub. They are amazingly sticky and amazingly quiet. The most silent tire I've ever owned, hence one of the reasons I picked up a set for our TSX. Silent and high performance are not mutually exclusive, but tread wear is at 140A
235/45/17 keeps the tire diameter the same as 215/50/17 stockers (~25.5"dia), reason one for opting this size. 2nd, this size has a rather large selection of choice vs. the OEM 215/50/17.
A 225/45/17 works out to about (~25" dia) so you will ever so slightly up the odometer readings over time. This was ideal for my Accord however, being it used 195/65/15 tires stock

I had 53,000 miles with my OEM Michelins until they were about 2/32 deep (according to the dealer). I never had a problem with them, although I did note that winter driving wasn't very good on them. During the rain though, they were pretty nice.
I replaced them with the Bridgestone Potenza 960AS Pole Positions 215/50 17R and I managed to get them for 150 each at Discount Tire. As a matter of fact, they have a rebate going on where you can get a 75 dollar reward card for getting them. I think they're on tirerack as well.
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fin...ns.do?pgid=155
I like them so far, they feel like they grip the road nicely, and I have yet to test them in rain or snow.
According to the two tires, the traction on the PPs are AA, while the OEM tires were A. Also the wear rating on the PPs were 400, whereas the OEMs were 300. In addition, the speed rating of the PPs were W, and the OEMs were V. But I read somewhere that the ratings were only useful when comparing tires from the same manufacturer.

The only numbers comparable within brand are wear, else other ratings are interchangable.
For the record 235/45/17 tires on ET +50 17x7.5j rims fit the TSX, no rubbing like a glove. Fantastic.
The Potenza RE050A-PP is also rated at 94W to you don't have to worry about weight limits for an XL tire. These match or exceed the 93V stock.

After having the Pole Positions on for a couple of months now, I can say that I really like these tires. The only downside I have experienced thus far is a drop in mpg by 2-3. I was getting 26+mpg in "suburban" driving (no highway, just back roads), now I'm getting 24-25 mpg. Kinda sucks, but not the end of the world. Just thought I'd share.

Luv,
How is the road noise on your Pole Positions as compared to the OEMs? My biggest complaint about the OEMs is the road noise so when I change them out it will be for a much quieter set.

Not sure if the link below will work, but I just had to see what Consumer Reports had to say since I'm in the market for three season performance tires...

Of course I drove an RX-7 for many years and with the high performance tires I had on it (which had to be replaced every 25K miles) I'm thinking that in comparison these tires, on this car, are pretty good.

What do you all recommend for a quieter, softer ride and less likelyhood for alignment issues? I've had my 06 TSX for a little more than a year, and I've already had it in for alignment service three times. I'm probably more sensitive than the average driver, but I can't stand it when my steering wheel is a bit off or the car pulls. I live in Pittsburgh where the roads can be pretty rough, and was told by several people that hard, low profile tires can make it worse too. I was thinking about replacing my stocks with "Grand touring" like the Turanza LS-V? Am I on the right track?

I have a 91Y rated set 225-45-17 on my Accord EX, and a 93W rated set 235-45-17 on the wife's TSX. Both sets are silent so far.
I can't comment on the RE960A/S 400A version, I've never had a set.

after 60K of Michelin, I replace my to GoodYear eagle respondedge, it really made the difference also I had a chance to get a new 2007 loaner with Michilin on,
Good year is a way better tire than original, quiet and more reponsible, but not as soft as original.
have the new tire for 2000 miles, so far so good ~~

Yokohama S.Drive
Hey guys, i just ordered a set of Yokohama S.Drive tires from tire rack. It seems like they're a new line released from Yoko? I just thought i would throw it out there to see if anyone knows anything about these other than the specs and descriptions on the Yokohama webasite.
Got them to replace my stockers on my stock wheels.

^ They are good, much stickier than shitty stock tires, they are a little noisier than my Toyo T1-R on my other car though.
I would suggest getting Michelin PS2, Goodyear Eagle F1, or Conti SportContact series if money is no object.
I'm done purchasing cheap tires, when they were new, they were quiet, after a while, they turned to be very noisy and slippery.
Btw, my current tires on my TSX are Falken FK452.

Any one have any feedback on Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S? I had to replace my OEMs due to a blowout. Discount Tire didn't have Yokohamas in stock so I got these Michelins for the same price. So far I have noticed the sidewalls seem softer than the OEM's, but the grip is amazing. The salesman said I could bring them back within a month and swap them for Yokohamas or the Pole Positions if I didn't like these so I'll wait and see. In the meantime, does anyone know which tires have the stiffest sidewalls?
