NEED ADVICE: I'm looking to replace my tsx tires

I'm looking to replace my tsx tires maybe go at 225/40/17 or even at 235/40/17 -
I know it would really be firm on the road but how big is the difference between the OEM tire vs 225/40/17 or 235/40/17 ?

Oh here are my final choices

I really dont like my OEM tires anymore... almost got into 2 accidents thanks to VSA!!!

I know I'll give up some performance on these but how bad can it be from OEMs?
BRIDGESTONE TURANZA LH-S
Goodyear Assurance TripleTred
Hankook Ventus HRII H405

These are the premium picks ---pricy but we'll worth it as my friends would say...
PZero Nero M&S
ContiExtremeContact
Bridgestone Potenza G009

Money is the deciding factor for me but willing to pay more for the better tire overall.
I would go toward just getting a summer tire but prefer all season since I live in Chicago, you never know what weather you're going to get.

Any advice would be great thanks

ADVICE: Search the wheel and tire forum here, and if you don't find an answer post there (if the mods haven't already moved this thread).

235's are too wide for a 7" rim. I'd go 225 max.

If you're looking at all seasons, add the Toyo Proxes 4 to your list.

hmm how are they different from FZ4s? I had them but sold to them to my friend to purchase another all season. My least choice would be a Toyo. Im was really disappointed when I had these when we had heavy snow last month. My car felt it was on ice on the road and with very little control of the car...

Yokohama Avid V4S Here is a link to a tire size calculator:

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Did you check the tire ratings from www.tirerack.com? For the stock rims I would go with all season:

Yokohama Avid V4S

or

Bridgestone Turanza LS-V

Even though they are all season I would still use snow tires for the winter.

The thread linked below has a review of a set of Nokian's on a TSX:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ghlight=nokian

The Nolkian review sounds good. I personally have only used Blizzacks as winter tires, and you do lose dry traction and performace for the added snow traction. I would have liked to of tried the Dunlop Winter Sport M3s but they were out of stock when I bought my snow tires.

The proxes 4 is the successor to the FZ4. I personally haven't tried them but I keep reading good reviews and one of my friends has them and is very happy.

I'm a firm believer in having two sets of tires but for some places that only get the occaisonal dusting of snow, all seasons probably make sense.

You mean BRIDGESTONE TURANZA LS-H. Not LH-S. Anyway, I just replaced my OEM tires with Bridgestone Turanza LS-V's they are much much better. I think I paid 165 each installed.

For Chicago driving conditions? The Turanzas. Quiet, great handling and decent performance in poor weather. Easy decision.

I have 2004 TL tires(235/45/17)on the TSX right now and they are great.

I know 235's are not recommended for a 7" rim but i know quite a few people with that setup and some even autocrossed on them and they are fine.

Here's a thread that's been going on recently about the Avid V4S that's been discussed recently

Here's my recommendation on 2 different Yokos:

I've used these on my car:

Yoko Avid V4S

Yoko ES100

Read the reviews. I'd take either one all over again.

If you go with the V4S: use the 215/50/17 93V
If you go with the ES100: go with 225/45/17 93W

SOrry but I wouldn't touch the Yoko's Avid tires. I had them for my previous car and they were one of the worst tires I have. They were ok in dry weather but they slip in wet conditions. Plus they wear out really fast!!! One I would recommend is Falkens ZE-512's. Very good tires overall and rated number 1 in consumer report. They are High Performance All-Season tires and you won't be spending an arm and leg for it.

Based on your recommendation, I just put a set of Bridgestone Potenzas RE750 235/45-17 94W on my 7" wheels... no problems... but what a transformation... the car was designed for ultra high performance tires like these... get rid of those OE Michelins... they are crap...
the car tracks much better, brakes better, corners a lot better and has lost its bounciness...

Can you please explain what the VSA did?

Thanks
