A moment of silence...

for my departed wheels. I sold the SSRs today, sad to see them go, but they served me well. I decided to sell them because they didn't fit my racing goals, as a super lightweight 18in they're neither small (high tire prices, more rotation mass) nor show worthy. I picked up curbage on two of them which kills me every time I look at them.

Lifting the OEM wheels is depressing because the SSRs are so much lighter. For now i'm going back to stock till I can join the 19in Volk owners club down the road, but I'll be using 16in rsx wheels w/ Hankook rs2 z212 ($88/each ) for competition.

RIP

So it's down to what, two of us who still run SSR's?

Also, how will you be cutting rotational mass by moving to a smaller wheel? Tires can weigh more than wheels do. My Potenzas weigh ~25 pounds each where the SSR wheel weighs 16.

I've always thought that if I ever went with aftermarket wheels, the SSR Comps would be the ones. The other couple would possibly be the Work Emotion or Work Meister and also considered the Volk GT-V. Though the Volks are way expensive for me. I'm not that big on getting wheels. I try to keep the car simple looking.

Well you need to consider that a 225/45/17 tire weighs as much as a 225/40/18 tire. to have thin sidewalls, tire companies have to renforce them w/ even more material. so rather than a 25lb 17" tire, you now have a 25lb 18" tire that's an inch farther out.

Anyways, I'll be running 225/40/16 Hankook Z212 RS2's on 16" rsx rims (supposedly 15lb). It made sense to me (16in tires are way way cheaper), and the tire are on the small side which should increase the revs
