Moda R6 18X8

I'm really considering these wheels because they're clean and would keep that stock look but with better beefier tires... they would improve handling and looks

my question is does anyone know the weight of these wheels? are they heavier than stock?

I getting them at my local shop for $1600 installed after tax and everything... is this a good deal?

any comments are welcome

here is a pic

i don't have exact weight, but I was thinking about buying these a couple weeks ago and it's not good at all for performance. That tells me they're hella heavy.

The Moda R6 is gravity casted so it is probably heavier than the OEM wheels:

(Gravity casting is the most basic process of pouring molten aluminum into a mold utilizing the earth’s gravity to fill the mold. Gravity casting offers a very reasonable production cost and is a good method for casting designs that are more visually oriented or when reducing weight is not a primary concern. Since the process relies on gravity to fill the mold, the aluminum is not as densely packed in the mold as some other casting processes. Often gravity cast wheels will have a higher weight to achieve the required strength.) If this wheel is light you will probably bend it really easy if you run into a pot hole.

Price wise it depends on the brand of tires that you are putting on the car. Do have the specs?

Does that include tires, otherwise that's not a good deal. You could get lighter than stock 18" like the G-Games 77W for $1000. Might need to invest in a torque wrench though.

I'd put 235s on a 8in wide wheel, but all of it will fit at least. And 1600 ain't so bad for a wheel and tire setup.

The Moda R6 look plain in the picture but they look awesome on the car. I must say that the pictures do not do the rims justice. I drive the car alot and I am constantly turning heads!

Coujac - I think Delmiroc is looking to get the same rims and size tires not sure what brand of tires. Is $1600 installed after tax and everything a good deal?

Tirerack lists the 17x7.5 at 25.5 pounds - significantly heavier than OEM. The 18x8 will likely be a couple of pounds heavier still. That's not too good. I have to agree with you though that they are handsome rims. The CGP one in the photo gallery with them looks really nice.

I paid $1509.00 from tirerack. They are delivered mounted and balanced w/ lugs and I got the chrome valve stems. I installed them on the car myself. I have the stock tires on the car right now so I will weigh the tire/rim tonite and post the result.

atleast you don't have to worry about the wheels coming of the ground if you go over a bump too fast.

A TireRaqck rep. told me that the OEM tire weighs 13 pounds. That means that the OEM wheel is 22 pounds - close to the 21 that I saw elsewhere on this forum. So the OEM-sized Moda is 3-4 pounds more than stock. Too bad. It's a nice looking wheel.

I'm going to call on tirerack's rep, if coujac just weighed his OEM wheel/tire and its 45 lbs... the wheel alone is not 32lbs. The fitment guide thread says when weighed, the tire is 26lb, wheel 21lb, just about right w/ coujac's measurement.

*edit* but yes, the moda's sound like they're slightly heavier, although in a +1 sizing

Think of the power it takes to swing a 7lb weight on the end of a 9" rope up to 60mph. That's what the engine would have to do every time you accelerate. Braking is also affected.
