How does a larger tire (diameter) affect fuel consumption?
Just curious -- I put my winter tires on today, which are 215/60-16. The stock size is 215/50-17. The difference between the sizes is that the winter tires (16") are 26.2" in diameter and the stock tires are 25.5" in diameter. That means the speedometer is reading 2.7% too SLOW with the winter tires on.
How will this affect my fuel consumption? I'm curious to know, because I track it after every fill up and compare it with past readings, friends, etc...

It could quite possibly give you better mileage because of the lower revs at cruising speed, but the trick will be trying to figure out what your actual mileage is. If you use the trip odometer to keep track of your mileage between fill-ups, that won't be accurate any more because your mileage will read lower than what you actually traveled. All you can do is add the 2.7% to your odo reading before calculating your fuel economy.
I think it will take more gas...because since TSX does not have bog torque, it will be harder to move bigger tire, also they useually have larger surface on ground... maybe after 75 mph, you can save a little, but you have to start the car from 0mph anyway....
