Finally Out. Glass Rims!!!
The D'Vinci Forgiato Radurra wheels are made from polycarbonate and are totally transparent where one would expect to see spokes. The wheel on display featured 1.5-inch think polycarbonate, while the set installed on the Mercedes-Benz CLS had 2-inch thick polycarobonate. Each wheel costs $2,000, which is a bargain compared to the $250k you need to cough up roll on just one Asanti rim. You'll need the extra dough, though, to keep these clear wheels clean of brake dust.

No chrome, so I guess never :-)
Not my cup of tea either, but original... have to give them that...

If the clear pane is made of polycarbonate, then it is not really glass, its plastic.
Its a form of thermoplastic polyesters.
Because If it was made of glass....yikes.

I doubt these would ever be rolled other than very short distances to for a show vehicle.
Certainly not practical for everyday use.
And give 1.5-2" thick polycarb - more weighty than cast aluminium and certainly forged aluminium wheels.
Nice but just not designed for the rigours of real world usage.

Moda, i was thinking that too, but isn't the inside of the wheel open for the air to flow through? Also, if you have the money to get these then i don't think you care about them cooling fast enough....lol
EDIT: My company among many others, (i think others have already developed and many produce them) are working on a form of polycarbonate I-beams to use for smaller bridges. They are already in production for other smaller uses but the moment capacity of them is still very large, and they weight nothing. Plastics and such are all that will be used soon enough. I still love concrete and steel though

It would be awesome if instead of one piece of polycarbonate, you could have 2 thinner pieces with a waterproof gap in between- imagine rolling on a set of working fish tanks!
