Coilover Adjustment Question

So, now that I'm pretty use to a lowered car, I was thinking of droping the front another 1/4"-1/2".

My question is, how bad will this throw off my alignment and do you think I will need to get it aligned if I do this? Thanks...

It's a good idea that everytime you lower or even lift your ride to have an alignment done. If you do height adjustments often, save money buy purchasing life-time alignment.

I lowered an additional 3/4 inch in the front and back last fall and I haven't gotten an alignment and I haven't had any uneven wear on my tires or anything. I don't know if its always gonna be like that but just my expirience. Oh and I have probably put about 5k miles on the car since then,

Not sure how low your car is Joe, but hopefully you can find a Firestone that you can fit on the rack at. I bought the lifetime alignment package from Firestone for 149.99. Doing two alignments pays for it right there. I'm running the aspec suspension though, so I had no problems getting my car on the rack. Hopefully you won't either.

I'm dropped 1" at the rear and 1.5" in front. There's a Firestone right around the corner from my work, so I could take it there.

But my real question is will I need to if I'm only adjusting the coilovers 1/4"-1/2" lower?

1/4 is not going to hurt.

1/2 you might notice a little extra tire wear, but should be ok until you need new tires, and get an alignment then.

more than 1/2, get an alignment.

Their holding up very well. The only thing I notice is clunking from the rear at very low speeds. Fronts sound fine. I've been meaning to call you about this, not that big of a deal though. Just wanted to know if there were any nuts that might need tightening.

Hmmm.....the only thing I could imagine is loose is a sway bar nut. I had a customer come by with a loose one. You said you had a noise issue with the sway before anyway. This is not related?

No, I've taken care of that with the poly bushings and lots of lube.

I have the same problem back when I have the SPC camber kit in the rear. Make sure the SPC camber arm is free to move up and down. The ball joint should be perpendicular to the other side connecting to the body in order to give the arm free movement. My SPC kit was twisted outa place during alignment, therefore causing that "clunk" sound from the rear. Lube the joints and see if that solves the problem. If not, have the alignment guy adjust the kit properly for you. That will for sure solve the clunk noise.

Awesome, thanks Kevin. After I drop the front a bit, I'll take it in for an alignment and have them adjust the kit.
