cant decide 17" or 18" ssr competition

Hey,

Dilemma here... trying to choose between 17" or 18" SSR Competition I like that style... just not sure if I want to go with... 17" and reuse my stock tires... or get 18" and new tires...

17" are fine with me its just I might regret not going bigger when I put them on. Also I am afraid I might regret 18" because they're bigger and waste more gas

Any suggestions?

How exactly does having 18" inch wheels waste more gas? SSR wheels in general are very light. even if you had like 19s you should still be lighter than the stock wheels. the weight of the tire itself will vary on the company. If you are talking about the fact that since you are going wider then i would say... don't worry about the gas mileage... it's negligible.. unless u go from like 7 inches to like 12. hahaha

Go with 18s.

haha thanks for the input well i was just thinking since weight distributed farther out than stock than more unsprung weight x.X (i think so... correct me if im wrong =p)

You could be on to something there. I'm not 100% on the physics of weight distribution and the moment of inertia, but in general, it'll be just ur driving habits that have the largest iimpact on your gas mileage.

40 series profile is ideal, so I would run some 225/40-18 tires

45 series profile is too thick = more tire flex then the 40s

18's i think are cars tend to look a little sporty luxury, so i dont think 17's would look right especially with a lip. 18's with a lip can look like 17's sometimes. Didnt you own 18in ASA...could you imagine if they were 17's.

i doubt gas mileage will be affected at all, your speedometer will probably be affected more then your gas mileage. i always thought the circumference would affect gas mileage idk
