I am looking for a better set of tires on stock rims. I searched on tirerack.com and it returned the stock tires as the only option for the TSX. I am sure some of you out there have better tires on your TSX. Can you tell me what you have and how much they cost?

I think Tirerack is messed up saying the TSX has a "Minimum Load Rating: XL" because nothing really fits that criteria. After a little searching, I think its something from the mertic system of rating tires (which makes sense since the TSX is the european Accord). I suspect any 215/50/17 that a V speed rated or better is fine.

If you want performance all-season tires, I would go with the continental extremecontacts or sumitomo htr+. I'd be happy if my tires were even double the price of either of those.

Skinnier tires would be better for winter use (provided there's snow).

I had the Pilot HX MXM4 on both of my previous Accords. They just sucked.

I believe that if you go to custon size on tirerack and put in the stock size it will give you more choices. I believe the load rating is what is limiting the selection when you just choice the OEM tire button.

I hear that it is a common practice for car manufacturers to make deals with tire manufacturers to put a specific rating or size tire on the car. This will ensure that people who want to "play it safe" and stick to OEM specs will and can only buy tires from that tire manufacturer.

I have to agree with the Sumitomos. I have 2 friends running them on their CLs and another who runs them on his Matrix. These are what I plan to replace the crap tires that came with the TSX. For that price, the preformance can't be matched. :P

Michelin Pilot Sport 2 are the best tyres I've ever seen ! Sizes starting from 225/45/17

I recently installed a set of Supra 712 on the stock rim. The size is 225/45/17 it fits perfectly. The car handle so much better than with the stock tires.

Does changing to this size affect the speedo and odometer much? What about RPM? I'd love to get PZero Nero M+S tires...

Those are the same tires I've been eyeing.

According to tirerack.com (specs section) the OEM Michelin Pilots take 819 revolutions/mile while the PZero Neros take 825 revolutions/mile. So PZeros Neros are just a tiny bit smaller circumfrence. The correction factor is 819/825 = 0.99272 which means when your speedo is reading 60mph you'll only be traveling 59.56mph.

Why not some Hoosier R3S03's then?

RA1's are a little overkill for the street. I don't know if you can even buy them off the rack. I know Canadians have to qualify for the the Toyo R-Group program before they'll let you buy them.

Even if you did get them I'd be surprised if you could get 5,000km out of them.

because the hoosier wouldn't last as long. Crazy as it sounds, my firend has driven the v700/ra1 on the street and gotten 9000+ miles outta them....provided you don't go to autoX/track days with them

Yeah I have that website but I just don't know about the real-world effects or damage to my TSX. That's a concern.

I have 215x45x17 on 17x7 OZ Chrono Evolutions and my ride is good.

That's a pretty small tire. 3.3% undersize is probably not good.

I had it on my RSX-S before trading up. Once its time to replace the tires I'll upgrade to 225 45 17. The ride is great on Bridgestone Potenza Poleposition SO-3.

If your looking for a great riding, good in the wet, long wearing tire I can not recommend strongly enough the Bridgestone Turanza LS-V. They are so smooth and refined, yet responsive and offer as good a "feel of the road" as I have experienced with any tire I've tried. They have a great waranty(though chances are you won't need it!) and really push the envelope on what touring tires are capable of these days. I've tried a few performance tires and IMO they don't suit the car well, the car isn't fast enough to require S03's- the benefits will be so slim for the price of admission I would never advice it for a customer of mine(and I LOVE the S03's!). I had great luck with the Potenza G009 and even the Fuzion ZRi's were good but really wasted on a stock TSX. The G009's may have been a little better in the wet then the LS-V's but other wise I am sticking with the Turanza's for summer until there is a new premium touring tire available. Keep in mind I am in the tire business so take my comments with a grain of salt if you desire, but please keep in mind I sell nearly every brand available and this is the tire I put on the car I drive every day.

Anyone tried the Yokohama Avid V4S? It looks good on paper. I haven't really looked at Bridgestone Turanza LS-V because it's considered a touring tire instead of a performance tire.

The 215-50-17 would be a better tire for winter as it is narrower. Even better would be a set of 16 inch wheels. But try finding many options in the 215-50-17 size for winter with a load rating above 91. The only one is the Dunlop M3 and we can't get that size in Canada. Tons more options with the 225-45-17.
