Attention XIZOR

i was noticing you seem to have a handle on the rim situation here.
i need a little help with wheel and tire selection.
here is my delimma. firstly im not a auto crosser and i really dont want my car to appeal to the fast and furious crowd. i dont want chrome or anything bling if you know what i mean.
im not into proformance necessarly in that i dont race my car.
my situation is that i accidently got an extra grand in commissions this month and im thinking i would like to dress up the TSX a little but i kinda want it suttle.

i have been looking for wheels for about 3 days nonstop now and i have found one whell in particular i kinda like
here is a pic

now i like the black look with the polished lip and chrome accents in the wheel.
in general i like this design and with this wheel i have a choice between 18x7.5 and 7x7

i also found out that the best tire size to keep the speedo accurate is 215/45/18 unfortunatly this size is hard to come by and expensive if you find it.

i looked at the next best size which is 225/40/18 and i was shocked to find out just how low of a sidewall this tire has. which is now making me rethink the whole 18" wheel issue. now im not sure if i want to go 18 or 17.
again keep in mind im not into the bling bling appeal and im not into proformance. i would be more impressed with the way the car looks and how the wheels fit.
i like the 7.5" width but it seems i either have to accept a speedo that is not accurate anymore and have rims i fear will be damaged on a pothole or go 17. if i do that i might as well keep the stock wheels.
the good news is wheel max said if i damage a wheel or tire they will replace it for free.

so now im stuck. i feel like maybe if i find a few more wheels i like better might help me decide on somthing.
anyone have any thoughts?

Nice looking wheel...go 18's with the 225/40...It looks worse that what the ride really will be...especially on a 40 series tire considering the width @ 225......

Nice looking rim, although I'm guessing its an imitation, none comes to mind right away so that's a

215/45/18 could be possible, but like you said isn't very practical. 225 width is a great fit for a 7.5" wide wheel so the lip will not stick way out. As far as the sidewalls,

215/45/18 = 96.75
225/40/18 = .90
225/45/18 =101.25

Tires do come in 225/45/18, but its about as rare as 215/45/18. It will increase your wheel diameter throwing it off as much as the 225/40/18, but at least it'll be closing the wheel gap rather than increasing it. 235/40/18 may alse be possible as there is 0.2% difference, but that's a reach for a 7.5" wheel.

As far as the speedo is concerned 1-2% off at 60MPH is not much at all IMO. Its all of 1MPH off.

here are some good tools

tire size calc

wheel calc

o, and I have 225/40/18 and the tires look good. They're not rubberbands, looks just right IMO.

and I just noticed you have a NBP car, I'm not a big fan of black on black. I suggest asking Dan to photoshop them for you first unless you know you want that combo.

Well it's not quite a TSX, but there's a black Tiburon I found that has those Exel Daytona's: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/444586

I don't think 235's are a stretch for 7.5" wide rims. I have them along with a bunch of other people with zero issues.

i like the chrome wheels on black. doesn't look bling at all to me. black on chrome looks very "correct" and "normal" in my opinion.

xizor, which car is yours? im not necessarly looking for black but im leaning towards the gunmetal. the hyperblack model i am told is not as black and has no polished lip the whole wheel is hyperblack. has anyone including yourself got a set of 45mm offset wheels with 225/40/18 rubber on a TSX. im curious to see a pic of the wheel and the side of the car.
if someone could post a pic looking at the rear of the car with the camera at the center height of the wheel looking just up at the top of the tire and how close it is to the rear fender as well as a shot from behind the car looking forward so i can get an idea of how far from stock they stick out.
thanks

unfortunately, I don't have any pics of my car as its been in a the shop forever now. i think a polished lip complements our car really well since we have so much chrome trim.

this is a NBP w/ no polished lip, doesn't quite work for me.

here's a SSM w/o

this is pretty close to the shots you were looking for. dabuda2004 has 18x7.5 +42 and took some closeup shots. +45 should be slightly farther in than his. Not sure what the tire size is, but I'm guessing 225/40/18

wow thanks man thoes are almost exactly what i was looking for. and i think even at 42mm offset they dont look wrong at all. even the style is almost what im looking to get.
the more i look at that gunmetal and polished lip the more i likeit. also on that thread many seem to agree with that look.

Ok, maybe this pic was posted before I joined up, but I've looked around and can't find anything about it...
Xizor, do you know whose that is, maybe the mod list? I'm qutie quite fond of that grill... it's rather Caddillac-ish.
