aspecs suspension or other (price-wise)

I'm looking into replacing the suspension struts, aspec at the dealer is 800 + 1000 labor ack!

I saw on the forums there was a thread installing it but would you personally go another set?

Please list

why
price
where you got it installed or DIY
Where did you buy it
and a few remarks about it.

I personally would not go with it because of how little drop there is. 1000 labor is way to much to charge to install a new strut and spring setup that is already together and they do no need a spring compressor. You can get the aspec kit on ebay for 600 and about 100 shipping. The labor to install shouldn't be more than 300-400 at most. Also I do not know from you original post if you are looking to be able to adjust your ride height at all or the stiffness of your suspension. There are several differnt suspensions available from both TEIN and Tanabe for between 700-1400. I can help you more if you let me know what you are looking for in a new suspension.

About my suspension setup:
I have the TEIN flex coilvers, they are high and dampening (stiffness) adjustable. I bought them off a a member on this forum that was selling there car for $1050. They normally retail for between $1300 to $1400. I had it install by my local shop along with my rear camber kit and my TEIN EDFC which controls the damping electronically. The total installation cost was $850. They had the car for two days during the week. The install of just the suspension was probably like $400. If you get any after market suspension that lowers your car more than 1 inch you are going to need a camber kit for the rear atleast. I am not running a camber kit on the front at all at the present time. I am really happy with my current suspension setup and would not change it at all. It is a little stiffer than stock at the lowest dampening setting.

I paid $600 from ebay and with $60 shipping to Canada. It cost me $120 Cdn to install it. I love it and reduce a lot of wheel gap without worrying too low to drive and with excellent balance in ride comfort and handling.

I think A-spec option is one way to go, but I don't think it is necessarily the better option. The only benefit I see is not needing a camber kit for the A-spec. But for $140 USD, you can get an Ingalls kit from www.importhorizon.com and be fully adjustable in the rear.

Of the pics I've seen, the A-Spec doesn't do anything for wheel gap and that was my #1 issue. I have the Comptech set of springs that only drop +1" and I love them. The ride is still wonderful, but I get more sporty spring rates.

yeah, the car needs more than a 1" drop to take care of the wheel gap, IMO. It needs about 2-2.25" in the front and about 1.5-1.75" in the rear.

Stock shocks, right? How many miles have you run with this setup?

$1000 in labor!?! That's sick!

I just bought a brand new TSX today in Auburn, MA and they charged me $640 for the A-Spec suspension (they price matched Sunnyside Acura in Nashua) and they wanted $178 for labor..... I got it for $800 installed....

Damn $1000! If you were in the MD/DC/VA area i would help you install it. I installed my Tein Flex and rear camber by myself. Do a search theres a DYI on coilover install.

I think $1000 might have been for the whole A-spec package. I asked the dealership the same question and they told me $1000 and I was like " for the just the suspension?" Of course, the girl I was working with said no that was for the whole package. It was $400 for just the suspension.

By the way I just got my A-spec installed and so far Im happy with the ride, but I wish it was a little lower. Maybe the springs will settle just a little bit. I'll get pics up soon.

My local dealer quoted me $250 for just the suspension install. (And $565 for the whole A-spec package of suspension and body kit.) They quoted me list for all of the parts, though, so I figured I'd wait and see what I could get online. The only problem is deciding who to trust for the install. Sure, shouldn't be a big deal, but...
