Aspec TL rims on 05 tsx?

I want to put the chrome Aspec TL rims (part # 08W18-SEP-200C) on my 2005 TSX but am unable to get a sure answer from Acura Dealer or Discount Tire salesman as to whether 18x8 inch wheels with tires will fit without rubbing (discount states 7.5in is as wide as their CPU recommends).

Anyone put these wheels on their TSX or are able to give me a definite yes or no so I feel better about ordering rims?

If you get them, you will have NO fitment issues and NO rubbing issues....

I believe we have some TSX owners with A-Spec's on (18x8)

And they look sweet as hell on the TSX....

Ran the 18x8 Aspec rims on my TSX with no issues.

You ordering them from the dealer? If I could make a recommendation, try looking at the Black Market for a set. It'll be a hell a lot cheaper and have tires mounted.

Thanks for the feedback, it has been very frustrating not being able to get a consensus answer from dealer and tire company as to whether or not these wheels would fit! Did you need to alter anything to make them work without rubbing? What would be the ideal tire size for this wheel on an 05 tsx?

In response to your recommendation, I need to get new tires pretty quickly and have been planning the wheel upgrade for some time so dealer price does not necessarily concern me but will check market this evening. What do you mean by tire mount?

Again I appreciate yalls help, i am pretty uneducated when it comes to vehicles but really enjoy my tsx and believe these wheels will really look sharp

I ran 235/40/18 tires, but, I only had them on for a couple weeks before selling the wheels. I didn't have any rubbing issues with the tires.

I was saying that the Black Market will have Aspec wheels with tires. So you might be able to find a good deal on a set (rims with tires already mounted on them).

The wheels looked great on your car! What year is your car or am I safe to assume there are no differences between 05-08 that would allow the later yr models to accommodate the 18x8 since they are all the same body style?

You'll probably get varied feedback on your questions, so.... I'll supply you with my first hand experience. I ran TL wheels (04-08, they're all the same size: 18x8 et45) on my 05 TSX w/ 235/40x18 tires (lower profile and wider, but the same height as OE). I'm lowered about 3/4"to 1" and I did occasionally (just occasionally) rub with this setup. Mainly in back, but if the front wheels were turned just so, I could slightly rub up front too. You could get different stories and I'm not questioning anyone's accounts, but this in mine. As far as tire size goes, Tire Rack recommends 215/45/18 and I'd agree. They're the same width as the OE tire, about the same height, and less likely to rub. The decreased offset and extra wheel width should provide a higher performance ride and handling.

It's a 2007. There are differences between the 04/05 and 06/08, but nothing that'll affect the wheels.

If you're interested in learning the differences in years, you can find the differences if you search the forums.

Thanks for the help shy and simba. Would you recommend one tire size over the other if my car is not dropped at all to get the best look and fit?

It's not going to look as good as it does in that picture if you're not lowered. In fact, the lower profile tire my bring more attention to the wheel gap.

FYI - there is a 17x7.5 et55 version of that wheel as well. It's the TSX A-Spec...

I'm inclined to agree with the comment about the lower profile tire (235/40x18) accentuating the space above the tire (although any OE or equivalent diameter tire will produce the same gap) . I'm pretty sure that those of us with lowered cars are more likely to notice it though. Since you're at the normal ride height, either tire should work. Maybe you could use some other criteria to help you decide. Are you going to use an all season tire? If so, will you encounter any snow? If you answered yes to both questions, you would probably be better off with the narrower tire (215/45x18). If not, one other thing you could consider is that a 215MM tire will be pretty stretched on an 8" wheel. Although the specs I checked for 215/45x18 size include the 8" width as acceptable, I think that size wheel is really too wide for a 215MM tire (it could effect how the car rides). So..... pretty thin I know.... bottom line is it's just personal preference. And to muddy the waters even more...... you could consider the 17" wheel mentioned above.

I was considering an all season tire (continental extreme contact dws was recommended to me) but am in Texas so snow is really not an issue. How much does it cost and what is needed to lower the car .5-.75 inch if I do not like the way the gap looks?

Just got a set of DWS' mounted. Love the tire, so much better than stock. Real value for the price.

There are many options in lowering your car. You can go coilovers or springs or a springs + shocks combo. If you want a minor drop like mine, go with the Tein H Techs. You can run the Tein springs with stock shocks (if you're on a budget), but I wouldn't recommend it. Pair the H Techs with Koni Yellows and you got yourself a good match. I'm running H-Techs with Tokicos Blues. They're nice and the car handles well along with a rear sway bar (not sure if you already have one).

If you want to stay the OEM route, you can get the A-spec suspension. It'll give you about the same drop. Or if you want to go lower, you can go Tein Basics. On average these setups run about 600-800$. Installation will vary depending on the shop.

It really depends on how much you're willing to spend and how low you want to go. Search the forums and there are plenty of threads about aftermarket suspensions.

You could try these for just a little lowering...

Thanks for all of your help guys. Dealer ended up finding/coming down on price for a set of 18x7.5 wheels for an 08tsx so no fitment issues. I'd post photos but cant seem to figure out how..

Were those the newer TSX A-Spec's?
What is the offset on those?
What tire size did the dealer recommend?

reviving an old thread!

I have to agree Simba, i just installed the 18X8 a-spec wheels with 235/40 tires and have some slight rubbing in the rear and only occasionally. i really have to try and make it happen, i am hoping i don't really encounter it much in my normal driving.

When these tires are toast i'll probably need to look at a slightly smaller tire to take care of the issue completely.
