any problem with Offset - 42 on 18" rims
any problem with Offset - 42 on 18" rims
Hi Folks,
Juz wanna some advise from TSX owners.
Will there be any issue if I'm using a 18" rims with an offset of 42 ?
I understand the stock has an offset of 45.
What about if I'm gonna lower the car ?
Juz worried that it might scrap the fenders when lowered.
Woudl appreciate some kind advise

The stock wheel is a 17x7" wheel with a +55 offset.
To really determine if there would be any issues, you would also need to know the width of the rim and also what size tires you plan to run on it.
With that said, assuming you are running 18x7" to 18x8" rims, +42 should be OK with 215 to 225 width tires. 235 would work too, but it may stick out slightly past the fender on the 8" rim with a +42 offset. There's a member (vwong) who is running 18x8 +40 offset with 235 width tires. B/c his car is aggressively lowered, the additional camber allows his tires to tuck into the wheel well. If your car is stock height or mildly lowered, the tire will be sticking out very slightly past the wheel well.
If the rim is 18x7.5" with a +42 offset, I don't think you'll have any problems w/ rubbing, etc. as long as you are sticking in between the 215 to 235 width tires.

I'm running on a 225/40R18 tires on a 18x7.5" - Offset 42 rim.
It looks "ok" for me but I'm kinda worried if I'm going to lower it.
May look into the camber kits but will have to save up some $$$ first
Thanks

Hey Guys,
I was planning to go with 18x8 wheels with a +45 offset this summer. And I plan to go with 235/40/18 tires.
I don't plan to lower it yet, maybe next summer.
My questions are:
How far will the tires stick out of the wheel well?
Will I experience any rubbing when having a full load of passenegers?
If I do have rubbing, do you guys suggest getting a camber kit without lowering?
Anyone have pics of a TSX with OEM Kit and Wing, preferrably ABP but any color will do, with 18x8 wheels and 235/40/18 tires not lowered?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and advice

EDIT: They are. I thought they were 18's.
I'm running 17x8 with +45mm offset 235/45/17 tires. Just received my eibach prokit in the mail, once I get them on tonight or early tomorrow morning, I'll post up see if there's any rubbing issues.
The wheels I have are sitting in flush with the top fender, and since I do not have the OEM body kit, the bottom looks a bit protruded out. We'll see how they look after lowering on the eibach prokit.

I don't have any camber kits yet. I'm still searching for a set for the front. It may sound crazy to some of you, but I want to have a bit more negative camber to get more clearance between the tire and the inner fender well.

Do you have the Tein Flex Coilovers Vwong? I forgot how much you've dropped your ride, 2"??? I've just dropped my car on the Eibachs, and for some reason, they look very low, I think it's cuz of the big 235/35/17 tires I have...

There's obviously different schools of thought on how to set up your suspension; the only thing I would really say is that if you're running more than -2 degrees, front or rear, and soft tires, be prepared to buy tires often. The stock rubber, hard as it is, would last quite a while though. A guy I work with had close to 20K miles on his RSX-S, way over -2 degrees camber in the rear, stock tires (same as ours), no obvious signs of uneven wear......

Dan, LOL my bad, i meant to type 235/45/17
And yea the job's already done, charging up my camera tonight then waking up in the morning to take pictures
So far I love the ride height, it's low, but not too low to kiss bumpers and curbs. Pictures coming tomorrow!!!

let me know what you guys think
also, I think the rear looks a lot higher than the front, more than 0.2" difference like advertised. Is it because I've got the 5AT so the front is 100lb heavier therefore lower?

Part of it could be b/c of the heavier auto trans. However, I also noticed that there is a pretty noticeable difference in how low the rear looks with a full, 1/2 or empty tank of gas. On my auto, with a full tank of gas, the wheel well gap in the back is noticeably smaller than the front. When I get past 1/2 tank and towards empty, the front and rear wheel well gaps look similar.
Of course, you can always buy some Neuspeed Konis and lower the rear perch.
Speaking of which, I just received my Neuspeed Konis yesterday so hopefully I'll be able to get them in the car w/ your old Comptech springs in the next week or 2.
BTW, did you do the install yourself or did you take it somewhere? If you took it somewhere, how much did they charge and were you happy w/ the quality of their work?

I think the front is sitting slightly lower than what it should be. The reason being, I'm using the OEM shocks/strut for 6MT instead of 5AT (cuz I bought the springs from Zazen and he gave me his struts/shocks in a package). And I'm assuming that Acura has tuned the stock shocks to cope with 100 lb lighter in weight on the 6MT. Now my 5AT is sitting on the 6MT shocks, that explains why the front is a little bit lower than it should be. Supposedly 1.6"F, just by looking at it, I'm guessing it's @ 1.8"~1.9" drop. The ride quality stays 98% stock though, dont really feel that much difference compared with stock. It does get slightly stiffer when you run over big bumps. Tonight I will give the gas tank a fillup and see what happens.
Where did you get your Neuspeed Konis and how much? I'm still deciding if I should go with the Eibach Prodampeners or Konis.
I actually did my own installation, wasnt difficult at all. It's my first time messing with suspension, but with the help of many forum members (including urself)on directions, it went really well. I started with left front, and was being very cautious and did it step by step, so one side took me about 2 hours
After getting a hang of things, I went ahead and did the right side front, that took me 15 minutes, big difference. Then the rear right I spent 2 hours trying to take out the strut without having to unbolt the upper arm, then found out I had to. Rear left took me 30 minutes to finish up. So it wasnt difficult at all. I'd be more than happy to help you install your konis/comptechs if you like. Got myself 2 jack lifts and 2 jack stands. Street Image quoted me $100 for installation, so give them a ring. If they give you a higher quote than that, just tell them Kevin referred you. They have a very clean shop and very professional too. I might run in their shop to pick up the Injen CAI in coming few weeks before the Socal meet, we can head over together

Kevin,
Hey, that's great! I'm glad you were able to do it on your own. So, again, how was the quality of the work? Just kidding
I know you did a better job than a mechanic would b/c you're working on your own car.
With respect to the Pro-kits, I think there are some threads where people mentioned that they lowered more than advertised. People were getting a 1.75" drop instead of 1.6". Yours may be yet a bit more lower due to the MT vs. auto issue.
I got my Konis through asw88 on ebay. Can you believe they got to my house less than 24 hrs after I ordered them? Price was $579.99 shipped ($554.99 + $22 shipping + $3 optional insurance). No sales tax.
Thanks for the offer to help on install. I'm not sure when I'll get around to doing it yet as I have stuff going on the next couple of weekends. I'll give you a call if I need a hand.

ALright, just came back from the gas station with a full tank and did a measurement. I'm measuring from the center top edge of the rim to the fender. Front and rear are the same now... amazing how a tank of gas can do to your suspension
-K
Yup. Yet another significant variable to consider when people talk about measurements on how much a certain spring dropped their car.
Post pics with a full tank. Your car should look slamming now (literally and figuratively).

Aye, will do tomorrow.
I guess you can always slam your car with stock springs/struts, just cram 4 of your buddies into the car, then lock some victim in the trunk

So the specs by Eibach 1.6F & 1.4R, are those before a gas of tank, or empty tank? O.o
