Acura no longer makes the A-spec suspension

So says the service dept. at my dealer, whom I just talked to today to get a quote for comparison shopping.

The guy said Acura stopped making the A-spec suspension starting with model year 2005.

Anybody know anything about this? I'm just curious because if I get it I'll buy the parts on ebay anyway.

I would think that something of that scale, they would have informed the public?

most likely, acura did a crap job of marketing A-SPEC packages. the TSX one is over-priced, late and too mild. The TL A-SPEC sells pretty well considering what it is because it was actually released with the car.

That's weird...can you still purchase the suspension from the Ebay Acura Dealers?

My dealer said the opposite - they said they only make them for the '05. (Which is completely untrue). All of this is dealer idiocy. Call or email the Acura of Escondido guys to get the real scoop. They probably sell 10x the A-Specs any other dealer has ever seen.

If this turns out to be true - how on earth are they going to handle the people who have a kit and something breaks 3 years from now? "Oh sorry we can't put your suspension back on, no more parts."

Although this might help me make up my mind on what to buy first...

That is not true. I took possesion of a 2005 with a-spec suspension yesterday. I had to wait 7 weeks for my car so if they stopped selling the a-spec suspension it happened within the last month and a half.

By the way there is an improved difference from stock suspension, especially if you get a-spec with a comptech swaybar.

Looks like the kit ist still being sold for now.
If anyone finds out different please let me know, I'm leaning towards the aspec suspension at this point. I was going to wait until after hondata for this, but if they stop making it, I will buy it sooner.

The A-spec suspension is also in the catalog for the 2005 acura TSX. It lists it as an accessory i think. So...
Kinda wierd that they'd stop making it after just publishing the 05 catalog a few months ago.
I think that dude must not have known what he was talking about. The dealers say a lot of things that are... well... not neccessarily accurate.

last time i went to my dealership, and asked about rear cambers. the service tech at Acura of Pasadena told me there is not one single rear camber kit for our car. just because they're dealers, doesnt mean they know a whole lot about cars

Well that settles it then - the service dept at my dealer is for some reason misinformed.

Darn, I thought I had a collector's item on my hands

I'm installing my A-spec suspension in about 10 days. I bought it used from LannyM.

So you're the one that snatched it up before me!

Enjoy man! Are you putting in on an AT or MT? I'd really like to see some pics after you get it on.

I'm wondering if they are stopping production of the full aspec kit that includes body kit, wing, rims, suspension, spoiler...etc

Maybe there are stopping production of the full kit, but still making the suspension kit. Just a guess.

Let a fellow Hokie know how the install goes. I'm looking for a moderate drop with improved handling, so maybe the A-spec is for me.

some dealers are stupid. My sister went to get a new MDX and they told her they were gonna change the look of it. That model has only been around for 4 years and they just changed some of the looks on it.

STOOOOOOOOOOOPID sales people.

Don't get me wrong, some still know their shit, but majority wouldn' t know it if hit them in the head.

It might be for you. I have a-spec suspension on my car and it is awesome. The drop is definately moderate, but it is noticable. .75" to 1" drop total. I have no regrets about getting it. Actually knowing what I do now I would have been dissappointed if I hadn't gotten it.

Are you still running stock wheels? If so, do you notice substantial improvement in handling? I eventually want to toss on some new wheels, but need to upgrade in stealth mode for the time being and new wheels would be too noticeable. Being a newlywed has made it difficult to continue my old spending habits!
