acura of bellevue (WA) = silly quote for a-spec suspension

Out of sheer curiosity as I'm not seriously considering it at this time, I called Acura of Bellevue where I bought my '04 TSX as it's about to go in for it's 30k maintenance, to ask about parts and labor for the a-spec suspension... it was hard not to choke and then laugh when it was quoted for about $1,400 ($800 parts, $600 labor).

Run away!!!!!

The $800 for parts seems outrageous, but the $600 for labor from a dealer tech seems about right. Those guys take forever since they don't usually know what they are doing and are just following the service manual like any one of us working on our cars.

At least you got a quote... I was told " we can't order you the parts because your car did not come from the factory with the A-spec kit." "We need the serial # from the original A-Spec package before we can order it." My response was, Acura dealers are selling them online without a problem. (Acura)" Well they are doing it illegally then."

I wonder if that quote includes a 4-wheel alignment after the installation. Even at a labor rate of $100/hr. they are saying it would take them 6 hours. Unbelievable.

If you look at how much the aspec suspension it retails for $800 and most places sell it discounted for $600-$650 and i got the GB for $575 shipped. Then, if you take a dealership labor rate of say $90-$100 and how much time it would take them, typically 4 hours (from my estimates that i got, that was the average time) and then add in an alignment for say $120 (shoot high) your looking at $800+$400+$120*1.106(PA sales tax) = $1399 so your $1400!

hows that math for you?! lol

I paid $575 for them and installed them myself, its not hard at all!!!!

Is it worth the money whether it be $600 or $1,400?

I'd say its worth the $600 in a heartbeat, I've ridden a a-spec TSX and its definitely superior to stock. However, for $1400 thats the cost of some Tein CS's delivered to your door! You can get the 'baller' adjustable suspension for that money. A-spec from dealer? No thanks.

^ Its is def worth $600, i would even venture to say $650, but beyond that your approaching Tein Basics which are good for the money but at $1400 like Reach said, get the Tein CS (i wish i had the money for those with EDFC)!!!!!

you can easily score tein basics for 650 so I disagree I wouldnt pay more than 599.99 for it.

It took 07carbontsx and me about 2 hours to install his a-spec suspension. That labor cost is too expensive. Just get the kit and organize a local install meet or something =P
