245/45R17 winter tires too wide?

Are these too wide? and would it fit the stock rims?

Too wide for winter, unsafe for stock rims.

Definitely too wide for stock rims, and with winter tires you generally want a narrower tore to help cut through the snow better, instead of snow-shoeing on top of it.

so generally <225 is better on stock rims?

Yes. Ideally you'd run 16" wheels and tires in the winter as they're a bit cheaper and you'd just run on steelies (OEM Honda are great and can be had for a good price normally).
