235's on 19x8 40et's. Will they rub??
Im looking at a set of wheels and tires on ebay. However, they are 19x8 with a 40et and 235/35/19's.
I have the A-spec suspension, do you think Im going to rub or rub bad?? Or do you think I'll be ok. I figures 225 would probably a much better fit, but Im not sure.

1. ET = offset. so your thread says 19 x 8 with a ET of 40 (assuming +40 b/c front wheels drive cars wont fit wheels with negative offset)
2. when you say "40 series" that refers to the aspect ratio of a tire.
ie 235/40 R-19
235 = width of tire in mm
40 = aspect ratio (series)
the height of a tire in mm is the tire width * the aspect ratio
so in this case
tire height = 235 x .4
R19 = diameter
now offset....
rule of thumb the higher the number, the more it will sit inside the fenderwell.
for example i'm running 19 x 8 volks +43 offset with 235/35-ZR19 tires
my wheels/tires sit FLUSH with the fender (and i'm lowered about a little over 2.25 inches)
now if you get a +40 offset 19 x 8 wheel, your wheel/tire will sit even farther past the fenderwell and if you're lowered - you're going to rub like a dirty man who's never taken a shower.

I didnt mean 40 series tires (I was tired).
And I know of at least 2 people on this board running 19x8's. Vwong being one of them. I was just concerned with the tire being 235 instead of 225.
And yes Im lowered a little because of the A-spec suspension.

I have 40mm 235/35/19 lowered about 2" (Tein SS) with an Ingalls rear camber kit and it is capable of rubbing but doesn't normally. Even after an allignment it doesn't normally rubb. But if I hit a major dip going fast it will rubb the inside upper lining in the wheel well up front. Rear doesn't rubb surprisingly.

it's kinda of annoying.
i've been replacing clips - they cost 5 bucks a piece at acura - but a buddy of mine gets em for 2 bucks a pop.
vwong stuck the inner lining behind the frame - but i'm too afraid that i'll gash my tires if i do that and rub.
i have to hit a bump pretty fast to make my tires rub against the inner fenderwell.

Now, the A-spec drop is not nearly as significant as vwong's drop, but I can pretty much guarantee that you will experience some rubbing up front with 235-40-19s on 19x8 +40 offset wheels.
