Drifting is maximizing initial entry angle, in order to minimize the exit angle at a faster speed.
Anybody can just lock up the rear wheels in a FWD and kick out the ass end. And of course, anybody can floor a RWD car and have it fishtail.
But real drifting is about entry angle/exit angle/speed.

Three Wheelin'

I wouldn't call FWD "drifting" (or sliding) as drifting. You're constantly dragging the rear wheel and you just keep losing speed through a corner until the rear tires gain traction again. As soon as the sideway momentum is gone, the car is no longer "drifting" (or sliding), the whole sliding motion relys on that intial motion that causes the car to go sideways, and there's no force to keep that motion up.
vs in RWD front wheel has full traction most of the time (and controls and points to the intended path of the car),except perhaps for the moment when a drift is initiated, and the rear wheel is used to both push the car forward and control the entry/exit angle of the car (by pulling the tail away/towards the direction of the turn). Done properly you can keep or gain speed through the turn at will.
4WD is similar to RWD during drifting, but since front wheels have traction the front wheels don't rotate as independently as in the front wheels of a RWD (even with differential, lsd, whatever), hence all four wheels are 'power sliding' through a turn, which also makes the slide more dramatic and wider like drifting on dirt (i.e. rally).
