Track Race Event at Willow Springs, CA
I signed up for the Redline Track event at "Streets of Willow" on Friday, April 15th.
it's $110 for the whole day. Here's the website if any of you are interested...http://www.redlinetrackevents.com/event_April.html
i think there put a cap on the number of cars they have on the track and they divide up the drivers into 3 skill level groups.
I did buttonwilow last year the diffrence this year is that my car has the H&R Sport springs and axxis brake pads. i'll post my post race thoughts about this setup...
hope to see you there!!

So you're the one who signed up. I was checking the entry list earlier this morning and saw an entry with a TSX. I was wondering if that person is on here.
Unfortunately, it's on a Friday. Unless miracle happens, I don't think I can make it this time. I will be at the Buttonwillow event in May though, but in my Prelude.
Good luck, and have fun at SOW.

it's well worth it!! besides these track events are generally regarded as performance driving schools and are well supervised.
it's hard to believe that there are only 2 from this forum who have tracked the car. there has got to be some people who have at least autocrossed, right?? anyway, i'll try to take pictures.
How about the results of that SCCA Race last weekend at sebring!! Go Real Time (my true inspiration for tracking the tsx)...
peace,

I haven't seen any TSX's at local track yet either. I regularly track another car at such HPDE/DE events since my wife won't let me track her beloved little TSX ...but I'm waiting to see some local TSX's at the track and see how they do. Needless to say looking at RealTime and other hardcore racers, the TSX can perform very competitively.

how cool was that event!! i am amazed at what my tsx can do under high stress situations!!
basically i had a choice to fit my car with a timing device vs. taking the performance driving class. i decided on the class. the instructor, alan, used to test-drive cars for goodyear tires and he actually drove the tsx in comparison tests. so he was very familiar with the setup and knew how and when to push the car. basically he had a few accolades about the set up. the car was very rigid and tight around the turns and corners. shifting is very smooth, engine has enough pick-up to carry the car into and outof turns. some improvements he suggested was larger front rotors (doesn't have to be the fancy slotted kind) with larger calipers for better stopping power. he also suggested upgrading the stock tires.
he also did mention that the h&r springs held up well with the stock shocks, but he did recommend upgrading the shocks.
compared to when i took out my ride to buttonwillow last year completely stock, i am 100% happy with how it handled today at willow springs. with the stock setup, there was a lot of "diving/lurching" when you take the car into sharp turns or slam on the brakes from about 100mph. this time, the car was more balanced and improved weight transfer with stopping and turning. i also want to mention that the springs reduced the understear that i felt previously. (the nose of the car point to the direction i want it to go and the car doesn't drift as much while i exit the corners) my axxis brake pads were definitely more "grabby" but once again, i could feel the braking start to fade towards the end of the day. to be honest, i am perfectly content with the stock engine. in courses like buttonwillow and willowsprings, you really don't have a lot of room to push the car much pased 4th gear. so i really dont think 20 extra HP will take significant time off your lap time. i noticed most of the best drivers out there were driving average cars (S2000) but running faster lap times compared to high powered cars (Z06). so basically, driver skill will make up for less power. having said that, if you like to drag or want your machine to be able to overtake an M3 on longer straighter tracks, feel free to MOD away.
i'm in the process of downloading my pictures so sit tight.
to give you an example of the types of cars that were there...
s2000, prelude, sti, miata, 240sx, boxter, carerra, modena, elise, focus, is300, early model M3, mazda 3, legacy, mustang, Z06, nsx, rsx.
now that i think of it, it was almost like a JDM meet!! haha!
congrats to real time racing once again!!...oops...spoiler...gonna watch the retaping oon tuesday!.

Yeah, unfortunatly, imagestation doesn't allow hotlinking the pictures, so you'll get nothing but red x's.
