Supercharged TSX vs STI

300 HP, AWD >> 205 HP, FWD Among TONS of other reasons......
w/ supercharger: 300 HP, AWD >> 260 HP, FWD AND that is with some other bolts ons and such. Kenny was pushing 224 WHP and i think some one in a 6MT did have 242 WHP but still that is only like 270 WHP anyway and its not enough.
HOWEVER, if you have $11k sitting around and get the full NA grand am Hytech system, 315 HP & 210 TQ might get ya what you want but it would still be close.....maybe not even close

I think your question would do better as - " if I get a supercharger, what can other cars can I hang with?" TSX vs. STi is always going to get a ton of sarcastic remarks.
BTW- no way a 260 hp FWD Luxury car will hang with a 300+hp AWD rally car....track or otherwise.

My buddy has put a lot of stuff in his STi so i might not be able to compare to a stock one but still, i think the better questions posed by CGEarl is better!
You should compare the STi to Mustang, Camero, or Hemi Charger. Those cars have the HP and more importantly torque to give the STi a run for the money (in a straight line only).
Honda/Acura is the HP Kings in this game; unfortunately, it’s all about the torque or the lack of it for all Honda/Acura cars. Every car in the Honda/Acura line-up needs 30-80lbs of extra torque as an option (displacement, diesel, and/or forced induction).
There are not a lot of imports under $40K that could hang with a WRX STi on the street, maybe a Toyota Turbo Supra (320hp/315tq), Lancer Turbo Evolution (286hp/289tq), or 3000GT VR-4 (320hp/315tq) to name a few.

A blown and fully tweaked 06+ 6mt TSX might be a good battle against a stock STi from a roll. From a dig i doubt it would be much of a race, especially if the STi driver can cut a good 60 ft time. If the STi is modded it gets more difficult.
They are quick stock but not god by an means. Spend some time at the drag strip and you're bound to see plenty of them running stock high 13's with an average driver. Maybe mid 13's if the driver is a real hot shoe. 300 hp is impressive but the AWD will soak up it's share of power, and those cars I dont think are any lighter than a TSX.

exactly what I was going to say

Comparing peak HP/TQ dyno sheets doesn't tell the whole story. They're important #'s, but there are other important #'s too. The power to weight ratio, torque curve of the engine, and drivetrain losses all factor into it too.
This is just a bunch of bench racing. The drag strip or the highway is where it gets sorted out.

ya the thinsgs that are important are whp and if it's from a roll or dead start. one of my other cars is a 3000gt vr4. it may be 320hp at the crank, but a 25% drivetrain loss really eats up the numbers. I know my friend's built gsr can hang at a roll against my vr4. I eat up Evo's and STI's all day with that car too. I know he's putting sumwhere around 235whp.. but when again that's in a gsr with no rear seat.. so about 700-800lbs lighter than the TSX. you would need to be making about 250ish to the wheels probably.. and that's if you can hook up the tires. just my

I'm curious to hear a Hytech built car. It probably sounds like a prison riot when you rev the engine. I feel bad about saying this, but anyone willing to spend $15,000 for only 130whp needs to wake up and realize they chose the wrong car to go straightline fast in. Slap a supercharger on it to make it decently quick and call it a day.
I believe it was steve457 who dynoed 244 whp/ 189 wtq on his 04 6MT TSX, and that only had a Comptech Icebox and header. I don't think anyone has dynoed a 6MT with a full aftermarket exhaust setup (I/H/C/E), but I would think you could bump those numbers up noticeably (at least another 15-20 whp/wtq).
I also find it a bit surprising that no one has S/Ced an 06+ yet (AT or MT). Hopefully, I'll be the first once Comptech comes back soon

.Shaang had the full Hytech setup + VTC + Kpro dyno'ed on his car and it came back with sick gains for just bolt-ons. He was making more torque than a stock TSX has hp.

Excelerate didn't have a CT supercharger for an 5AT at the time i was looking anyway....don't have the money now though thats for sure
I tried to hang with an Evo8 one time on the freeway. I don't get smoked often, but I got smoked...haha He was able to pull away from me. He had a manual and I could tell he had some mods. Had a nice big exhaust on the back.
I tried to run with an STi once on the freeway. I heard those things aren't as quick on the freeway at high speeds. He didnt' wanna run though. I know off the line, the STi would beat us all day, but on the freeway, I wonder if I'd be able to hang. I'll keep it real though, probably not...haha

I think if we had boost and K-Pro, and maybe even lowered the compression (to run higher boost), we'd be able to keep up with a lot of cars. Some of the RSXs with K-Pro and boost can beat the STi.
Yeah I was putting down 210hp/ 190tq to the hubs with the hytech set-up (icebox, header, cat, exhaust, reflash, VTC). This was before I added the 06' IM, TB, both heatshield gaskets, and pulleys. I will re-dyno once I get my the revised version of the exhaust from John. Anyways, I'm running 16lb ce28n's and 22 lb continental contisport contact 3's to minimize any loss from rotational mass. I did many roll-ons (65mph-110mph) on the highway w/ my friend's 01' 6spd M3 w/ supersprint mufflers. I was shocked myself, but he only pulled on me 2-3 cars each time when we hit 110ish. I also did 3-4 roll-ons with a stock evo MR, 80-110. He only pulled ahead 1/2-1 car length each time.
I think the HyTech set-up kicks ass once you are up to speed. The peaK hp numbers aren't that great, but with the increased tq it really pulls hard with the HyTech reflash when you have all that added power under the curve.
