Racing a friends GSX tomorrow night

I guess I just wanted to see how what your guesses are on who will win.

He just started driving stick this past summer and just learned how to launch yesterday. His car is also bone stock... I was thinking that I could have a good shot at him, but I'm still scared of that AWD Turbo. We'll see what the outcome is tomorrow, maybe I'll get some videos if at all possible.

Then again maybe we won't race... since it's not a really smart thing to do, but then again the cops will be to busy around campus anyway on a friday night so that leaves a lot of open country road for us

You're toast. AWD traction plus a turbocharged 200+ hp on a car that weighs substantially less than the TSX will result in you getting burned unless he totally screws the launch.

The GSX doesn't weigh THAT much less than a TSX... it's at a little less than 3200lb I believe...

My friend at work has one and I rode in it once.... he did a few 5k rpm launches with little or no wheel spin... and the torque was quite good

The TSX doesn't have a chance...

Well, substantial might have been a little exaggerated, but the weight differential is enough to make a difference.

Hate to kill the mood of this thread, but save racing for racetracks. Some folks who are using the same road as you are just trying to get home safely.

Your not toast..just race him.. i havent heard of them doing anything serious in stock form...its just when he starts modding when it can get serious.. so yea, you have a chance. And he'll have alot of wear and tear on his car also since the GSX is pretty out dated..so he might've lost power also.. just go race him and let us know how u did! Just be careful..

I agree. Go to the local drags, get in front of a Christmas tree, and race. Or go autocross. Or to a track event. Roaring through the streets when people are trying to get home to their wives and kids is stupid. Empty streets late at night doesn't make you any smarter. It's the dark, empty streets where something unexpected happens. (Like it's the empty guns that go off unexpectedly.)

I agree with you completely. If there was a drag strip around here (closest strip ia an 1/8th mile that's 40 min away), AutoXing season is over, and in the farmlands of Urbana Champaign there is nothing, no cars, no cops, no people.

However we did race on the highway @ 5am in the morning so it was sunny and empty. (maybe we'll do it again and post some videos, though it's nothing special)

0-120MPH: GSX Wins - GSX killed me off the line by about 1 car length, however that distance was maintained till 120MPH

10-80MPH: TSX Wins - From 1st gear with no launch, I am the victor by 1/2 a car.

30-100MPH: TSX Wins - From 2nd Gear I will pulled on him like from a 1st gear roll.

Notes:
Stock te GSX is supposed to run a 14.9 or something around there. The TSX around a 15.7. I think my wins are due to my friends inability to shift was quickly and effciently as he should be doing. Plus I think his car is running a bit too rich and might have a dirty filter.

So did I beat him? I would say yes I can, but I don't think I can beat any other GSX's out there.
