autox tips?
Hey guys I was told by some people here in Buffalo about autoxing here and rochester. Any tips or suggestions, already i'm bumped up in class with the few mods.
How do you guys think the tires will hold up?
and do you think i will need to replace a set?

my tips would be to look as far ahead as possible and be smooth, its hard to throw around the weight of a TSX on an autox course
If you're new to auto-x, my recommendation (as always) is to just drive. Don't change anything to your car. Learn on what you have. Once you become consistance, then consider mods (if you want to).
When you're on course, look ahead. Don't just look at couple feet in front of your car. "Slow in, fast out", brake early and finish all your braking in the straight. Put both hands on the steering wheel, I like 3 and 9. Some like 2 and 10, it's fine. Never cross your arms, use shuffle steer instead.
As for the car, just make sure all loose items are out of the car before your runs. Bring lots of water too. And last but not least, have fun!!!

The stock tires are useable for autocrossing. They are pretty good to learn how to autocross on. They are progressive at breaking traction and they sure do screech when you are oversteering. Let them teach you how to brake properly and enter turns properly. The better you drive on them (not screeching them all the time) the less they will wear. Tire wear is relative to how good of a driver you are
so I say keep your stock tires for at least a year or until you wear them out. Might as well get your money's worth out of them. They may not be as competitive, but you will be A LOT more competitive on your next set of better performance tires you buy because you have been forced to autox better on them.
Id guess that better shocks and springs would make the car feel a lot better also, but make sure that you do research on this first. There's a lot of retail junk out there that will hurt your performance rather than help, especially is the case for my Camaro. Don't just go out and buy something because it has a name brand on it.
