-22c = 0-60 in 6.95 Seconds!
I thought my car felt a lot quicker today so I decided to do a 1/4 mile run with my Beltronics Vector. My best run in the summer was a 0-60 in 7.23 seconds with the 1/4 coming at 15.85 seconds.
I'll let the pictures do the talking:
The launch was the hardest part with it being so bloody cold but I got the tires warmed up enough to stick and get a good run in.
What I want to know is can anyone figure out how much horsepower the engine is making given these specs?

Although I still wonder.
BTW....Dan, do you have the MT or AT?? Pardon me for not knowing!
I woulda thought for sure it's MT, but I actually checked "Who Posted" on the MT "check-in" thread, and it looks like you're not on there, so..... does that mean you did 6.95 with the AT????
Also BTW, not to be too anal and worry about two-hundredths of a second..... but the thing says 6.95.
So why are you saying 6.97?

Dan, what exactly is this Beltrinic Vector and how accurate are they? and how does it work? The fact that the same unit got you a 7.23 in the summer definently puts that cold vs hot debate to rest.

The Beltronics Vector FX2 is a G-Force meter that can accurately measure cornering forces an acceleration rates. It does 0-60, 1/4 mile, and 60-0. Road and Track did an article on the FX2 about a year ago and they found that the accuracy was actually better than what the manufacturer specs show. 0-60 and 1/4 mile are accuate to 0.05 seconds.
I'll upload a better picture of my setup when I get home tonight.

I was running 94 octane but I was also running 94 octane when I did the 7.23sec run in the summer.

Did you do it over the same stretch of road? I don't know about your model but in general accelerometers are easily thrown off by minor changes in road slope. Did you make a two way run over the same stretch to cancel that out?
I'm not trying to be a pessimist or anything just wondering as they could be confounding factors.

I think the performance is difference is more relted to the car being broken in more now, rather than due to cold air.
I believe those figures. i tested my car with a digital camera recording the dash, and estimate 7- 7.5 sec.
BTW, do you have the vector adjusted for vehicle weight, Cd, etc?
i have been thinking of purchasing one, and wanted to know if you can increase the accuracy by adjusting the variables per car.

There is an adjustment for rollout which is the distance you travel before the clock starts. This makes the biggest difference for the 0-60 times. I've set it to the same settings you would have at a drag strip so the numbers should be comparable to the ones in the magazine (i think it's 12").

I haven't retested with the Injen intake because I removed the g-meter before I had my center console replaced and I haven't reinstalled it yet. I was actually going to do it tonight because I'm curious what gains I'll see. I ran 7.2 0-60 when it was around this temperature last year so I'll use that as a baseline.

Dan, does your gadget do 60-0 as well? It would be interesting to switch tires and see how the braking time changes. My theory is that the TSX would brake alot better with decent tires.

It does do 60-0 but I haven't tried it yet. You have to configure something in the menu but I'll try it out sometime.
That's a good theory and I think you're correct.
