Are your Fogs cracked?

How long have you owned your fog lights until they cracked? Just wondering how often this occurs to Honda fog lenses.

Both of mine are cracked, after 5 months, and they are JDM too

Thanks for reminding me of another issue I have with Acura quality.

Ugh... ~ 18 months for me, but stuff like this should not crack, ever.

Seriously, invest in some rockblocker for these.... glass has a tendency to break when hard object come at them with great speed. I've already replaced my windshield 3 times, but only once on the fogs.

This is true of mine as well. I figure it is the price I pay for not having to spend $95 for a new lense. It is a terrible trade-off IMO.

My luck had to eventually run out...

Given it was a dealer-installed option, is it safe to assume the warranty will not cover this faulty design?

Whenever we get cracked fogs on an Alitma, Sentra..etc that a customer brings in and its within the warranty period...we honor it.
So I'm thinkin Acura should too....well they better.

I think they'll melt. The fogs just get too hot.

I hope you're right, but I'll ask Acura to replace them after someone can come up with a "lucrative" solution to prevent these cracks. I certainly will be one of the first to purchase one.

I have not had any melting issues so far and have had my bulbs for about 8 months now. I use them every night cause I love the look.

If there is a clear coat for paint, I was thinking what would happen if the lens on the fog lights were sprayed and coated several times with a clear coat type finish that would withstand high temperatures and not melt off?
Any thoughts?

I think that's from the heating. If you run the fogs for a while and you are stopped or parked, the lights build up a lot of heat. I think the design practically relies on the passing cool air to cool it off.

If the lens is cracked do you need to buy a whole new foglight assembly? or is it just the lens? I need to get one ASAP...

You are close.

What we have found is that the TSx fogs are a lot like the Mazda 3. The heat of the fogs are right at the max temps of the film that we use which is 200 degrees. Since we have found this and worked with the Mazda community, we have foudn that if you only have your fogs on for driving and not while parked or stopped for than a couple of minutes there will not be any problems with the film burning or turning brow. We also have several customers on this forum that we have spoke with and they are not having any problems since we came out with a new adhesive as well.

If you any has any questions please feel free to call or email anytime.

Chad

On the forum for my other veh. (A Nissan Frontier, which has plastic fog light lenses) those guys cry like babies because when they put their "superbright" bulbs in it melts the lenses. Over here it's bad Acura "quality" because a rock flies up and hits/breaks the glass lens.

If your dealer warr. cracked foglight lenses, they're being nice to you. It's not a manufacturer defect, it's accident damage, just like a dent, scratch, broken windshield etc.

Whole fog (not the kit). H and A has them individually.

I actually had my fogs on (with the film) as I was standing outside the car talking with another TSX person and I watched them start to smoke. I didn't realize they could smoke. LOL

Yeah, good luck at the stealership.

First set = passenger lens cracked after 19 months
Second Set = replaced them both w/Rockblocker added

They have been on about 2 months now.
