Windshield wipers

Ok, this might sound like a crazy thing to raise as a problem but it's annoying the hell out of me. Now that it's started to rain non-stop in northern Cal, I'm using the wipers a lot and there's this weird thing that mine are doing that I've never seen on any other car before.

The right wiper has created a line on the windshield in the spot right in my line of sight where it stops on its swing left, before returning to the right. There's basically a line there which is a lot smoother than the rest of the glass and when you drive at night water doesn't collect there in the same way as the rest of the windshield and so the light comes through that part of the glass differently.

I've tried cleaning the glass thoroughly along that portion and as a simple test, after I've cleaned it I breathe on it and the line is still there. Driving me nuts.

Anyone else encountered this or know what can be done?

My theory is that the wipers are tensioned a bit too tight and the right wiper kind of "digs" in to the glass on the full swing out before going back. I wonder if replacing the rubber will help?

Had the same problem on the left wiper. Basically, the rubber would drag a little and leave a constant streak and not be in uniform with the rest of the winshield in terms of rain dispersion. My wipers were brand new from the dealership so you might want to try another brand or something. Don't have that problem currently but I think it is because of the cold weather here in the North East which may change the rubber properties.
