Windshield Cowl-cover snaping sound location?

This sux.. Appearantly Acura does not listen or read this formun.
I just got my TSX 2 weeks ago in early Feb, and after 3 days.. i started hearing window creak around center console over the bump on the highway. I thought it is just cold weather and sometimes it goes away after 10 to 20 min of driving. Now it appears on entire trip to work( take 1 hour).
From the posting. I starting checking on the black "cowl-cover" along the bottom of windshield . I assume that is the one below
the wiper?. I start from
1) drive side: No snaping/pop sound.
2) passenger side: I hear snap sound (the sound similar when you push the safety button on can food to check if the can has been opened?). I pushed it harder and it stopped snapping and poping sound.
3) Center: I still hear snap right below the right wiper(on the center of the black cover), and no matter how hard I push or press it.. I still hear snap . pop sound. I wonder this is where center console creak/rattle sounds coming from?

I will test drive the car tonight when I go home to see if the creak sound. IF it is still there. I might have to go to dealership for the fix with insulation.

the Creak/Squeak sounds reduce by 50%, and almost gone for smaller bumps on the road. but for manhole and crack on the road. still have noticable Creak sound from Center Console and windshield. I can't push in the poping sound on the center of cowl-cover. Maybe I need to go to dealership to have them tighten.

I was in the same boat as you. Loud cracking all the time. Took it to the dealer and they added the insulation. Drove off the lot and heard the same loud cracking sound. Read the forum, pushed in the cowl, got rid of 80% of the sound. I decided that the 80% fix is way better than having the dealer try to fix it with their "hit or miss and try again" method. I figure by the time they finally fix it my dash would have been torn down and rebuilt a hundred times... who knows how many other vibrations that would create.
Good Luck with yours.

From my recollection of the forum, there are two common fixes for the notorious "windshield creak," which are for two different causes of the noise:

Press down the Cowl Cover along the bottom of the windshield.
Press down or secure the front ends of the molding strips which run from the bottom of the front windshield along the roof and to the top of the rear windshield.
My TSX had the noise when the outside temperature got below 45 deg. F, but #1 did nothing and #2 fixed the problem nearly completely. The molding end moves around, the rubber against the windshield rubs, and this noise is conducted through the glass. This made the noise appear to come from the dashboard toward the center, but it really was just from the edge. Deceptive!

I'd suggest playing around with the molding ends and see if that helps with the remaining noises. I was able to sit in the car, move the end around, and hear the noise just as I heard while driving. I felt much better after discovering the problem was so simple (in my car's case, at least). Hope it helps.

(Note to Honda: fix the design of the molding clip so the stupid thing doesn't bounce around! And get a TSB out ...)
