Why do i feel so weird?!?! Just worried.

Hi aLL!!

Recently, i have 1) changed my rims + tires...
2)Lowered it with Tein SS for about 1.7 front and back ##.

And i m just wondering why do i feel so weird about my car now.

As i make turns around like 20 - 30 m/h or even lower a little, i feel like the car's gonna lose controL.
That's the main problem i have right now. Feeling like, the car's gonna slide off any moment.

Anyone feeling me!?!?!

Is it possible for me to feel that because i didn't do the alignment yet?!?!

Or, is it that i just worried too much(cuz i always think lowering will hurt my car) that i think too much.
*U know how ppl get too worried about stuff and tend to think that there's lots of problem happening when there's actually none*

How do i get rid of the problem?!!?

Thanks... Thanks people..!!

Hmmm..I had a similar feeling when I dropped my car. Not to the point where I felt the car was going to lose control. Just the fact that I had to be more careful not to destroy my front lip on driveway entrances/ curbs etc.

after i dropped my car i felt like the car has some oversteer when i took turns with the same effort i used to put into turns before lowering. im still getting used to it but after having the rsb and the coilovers in, i feel like i can take turns with a lot more ease and as smooth as butter

It's possibly non-usage related, and after a while, you'll get a feel for the car like before.
It could also be a case of the lower CoG putting more stress on the tyres, or the ones you have are a softish sidewall type and are giving more now.
Check your pressures as well, and play with them to see if that helps - don't stick religiously to the numbers printed on the door frame, but equally, stay within 90% of the max pressure they're deigned for.
Some people swear by max-10% which could result in over-inflation, so only the centre tread being in contact with the tarmac. That coupled with any over-negative camber may be more unsettling, so be careful.

how long has your car been lowered? I'm sure everything's fine - you're just getting used to the smaller amount of body roll & other side effects of lowering your car.

I thought those tires.. i can't pump air into it?! and since i can't pump air into it, can i still check the pressure of it?!

Oh hell yes. I had exactly the same thing with a Z3 that I lowered. Tramlining, squirrly handling, greasy feel in the wet.

Took it to a good independent alignment shop (went by a local race shop and found out who they sent their cars to for alignments) and found out just how screwed up the alignment can get when you vary the ride height and wheel/tyre sizes.

After I got it back, it was like a hot knife through butter in the turns...smooth and controlled. Don't put the alignment off!

If you're driving around without air in your tires, that might explain a lot.

Somehow our member has illusions that run-flat tyres are airless, and it's this "lack" of air that's causing the problem.
Does make one wonder what pressure the tyres are at if they've not even been checked, never mind inflated, since God only knows how long?

I was scared driving my car down the highway after dumping it down on coilovers without an alignment. The car pulled all over the place as if the back wheels were fighting each other.

Alignment
I had my coilovers installed somewhere that's like 60 miles from me...I had no problem on the highway. My alignment was off quite a bit too (-2.5 degree camber, etc)

As for the OP, if you did both of those at the same time, you definitely need an alignment. It's usually best to do things separate (unless if it would require the mechanic to do something twice...one before and one now). That way you can isolate the problem to either the coilovers or your choice of tires.

If you didn't know that you can put air in your tire, you probably have un-even tire pressure. That could cause the uneasiness that you're feeling.

Falken ZE 512

Would like to get my thread alive again.

Yea, so.. for the time being, i had my camber kit installed..and did the alignment.

BUT the problem still exists... stiLL feels weird driving around. Feels like, my car's so light that it sliding. As if the tires are not grabbing hard on the ground.

And as the title of this post, Falken ZE 512, which is what i have right now.

Is there anyone who knows or uses that tires as well??!

Is it because of the tires that's causing the 'wrong' feel i m having!?!?

THANKSSS!!!

It might be that since your car is lower, there is less body roll. Then when you take turns, the car doesn't feel like it's bending and it causes you to think that the car is like sliding...=D

No that won't help. Maybe you need to balance your wheels or hub centric rings?
