Whistleing noise...help...

Hello guys.

I found another problem on my car.
(i got rattttled door, creaking noise from passenger side dash. i found these pro after drove it over 5000mls...now its 6000mls...)

when i start the engine I can hear some high pitched whistling noisy sound

around from steering wheel and speedometer...[wheeee]....wooo...i can even hear it now....
(its getting louder though.)

i think its from engine room and it drives me really really crazy....!!!

i went to the local dealer, but that day the car was fine...damn it.....they couldnt hear any noise...
(and i also stated about rattle and creaking dash...they knew these pros and told me "noone has fixed it yet" )

it sounds kinda fan movement, but i didnt turn on the climate control and any.

i will make an appointment with dealer again.

if one of you guys know this problem and how to fix it, plz help me...

anyway...is HONDA concerning about these problems or not!?!!?!

its just 6000mls now!!!

I hear the same thing and my car has only 165 miles on it!

The sound is coming from the dash and seems as though it is coming from the tachometer side of the steering wheel. It doesn't seem to be coming from the engine and doesn't change with the RPM. I can really hear it only when sitting at idle, so it is not all that loud.

Anyone else have a similar experience and know what it might be?

This noise has been talked about before. I think it has something to do with the intake. People with 6mt hear it more often. Last I heard it was normal.

i have this noise and have checked it out on other threads - i believe it is a normal idle characteristic. I have a 6MT with about 700 miles - i tried a loaner AT and it made the same noise - only more quietly.

I think it is the airbox although i get it at idle and cannot believe the air speeds are high enough to cause whistling - the dealer thinks it is the cooling pipes :-)

My TSX has this distinct high pitched noise as well, and it's annoying -- it's the dominant sound when idling, such as stopped at a light. It's stayed about the same in the 6 months I've had the car.

I checked another TSX at the dealership a few months ago, and it had a much quieter version of the same noise type. My conclusion is that it's "normal" (meaning many TSX's have it) but also that it can be significantly reduced.

From my experimenting, my guess is that it's related to the power steering. While stopped and idling, the only thing that changes the character of the sound is moving the steering wheel. Raising the idle speed doesn't seem to change it, nor is it AC related. I don't hear the sound when outside the car, just inside. I suspect there's a high pressure tube (or maybe a pump mount) that's conducting noise into the structure of the car rather than into the air.

I plan on getting it looked at when I go in for a 6 month oil change/work on rattles/work on noise dealer visit. The fix is probably as simple as adding a small piece of foam between a tube and some metal part or the body, if the right spot can be found.

I came across a theory (at tl.com I think) that the high pitched whistling noise is the alternator. I've had it too from day 1, and it's just noticable at idle. Strange, but not particularly annoying, to me at least.

In any case, I don't think it means anything is wrong with the car.

right

exactrly same as you guys mentioned...

I can only hear that noise when the car is idleing...and it seems

like engine rpm doesnt affect that noise...

just only when i move the steering wheel, that noise get louder

or reduced...

someguy say its normal symptom, but i couldnt hear that noise

before 5000mls. And the big problem is that sounds getting

louder...like my rattling door and dash.

But i still think TSX was the best choice among its competitor.
(around 30k)

Thankyou guys anyway!

I'm also experiencing this issue. At first I thought maybe that's the "signature" sound of a VTEC engine but I guess that's not the case.
I also hear it only at idle but more so after the engine has warmed up.
When I start my car in the morning I always listen for a few seconds and can't hear it. But when I stop at a light after driving for a while then it's noticable.
