weird engine sound

My 2005 TSX, with automatic transmission, has about 1000 miles on it (I've owned it about 6 weeks). I've just started to notice a faint, but still noticeable sound (very much like a dentist drill) that mirrors the car's acceleration, changing frequencies with each new gear change. I only hear it when the radio's off, and the windows are up. Is this normal? Is it something that I should get a mechanic to look at? Thanks

if you feel it is not "normal". Sure take it to dealer, the tech will drive it to see what you mean

I have the same "problem". I noticed this when I picked up my 05 TSX 5AT. The dealer and a tech guy drove with me in two other new cars and it was there too. The tech guy said it was normal and caused by TSX's exhaust system, but he also mentioned that they once changed out the whole exaust for a guy and didn't work. He said it'd be less noticeable once I got more miles on the car, which I think might be true because the test car with 800 mi was better than my new car and the other brand new one. I also checked out the Edmunds TSX forum, and people noticed this too (one actually got the tranny replaced, which I think is a rare case.) Anyway, although a little frustrated, I thought it shouldn't be anything serious because I got 4 years' warranty. I haven't really paid attention to it since I started driving it with radio on all the time. The simple solution is to keep your rock station on and enjoy driving...

My car makes a bit of a high pitch sound with revs, it's the twin balance shafts that spin at twice engine speed to smooth ir out. Since the intake is so quiet stock you hear a lot of mechanical noise.

The sewing machine whirl, it's a beautiful sound. You should hear
the mechanical trashing in lesser cars above 5k rpm. This is the
sound of a fine motor.
