Warped Rotors Fix

I got my CPO '07 TSX a month ago but I already feel the vibration in my steering wheel/vehicle when I brake so I'm pretty much assuming I have warped rotors.

How expensive are these fixes generally? I did call dealership I got the car from and they said they'd do it for free, but unfortunately, I'm 500 miles away from the dealer I got my car from, so that's not gonna be worth it.

Is this something I could do myself? Buy some new rotors from one of those autoshops and install 'em myself or would you recommend that I go to a professional to fix the issue?

Thanks.

I got a set of Racingbrake UP rotors and ET300 pads from Heeltoe when mine warped. One of the set screws had to be drilled out, but the rest of the replacement was smooth. So far, I couldn't be happier with them. I don't remember what they cost, but if you check out helltoe's site I'm sure the price is the same as before.
I've heard people have good luck with the Autozone blank rotors too, so you could consider that. It would be cheaper than the Racingbrake ones.

Cash strapped at the moment so I've pretty much been set at getting something from the likes of autozone. My main issue's mainly with self-replacing, when I pretty much have limited knowledge regarding these things.

I'm just wondering if this is a relatively cheap fix if I were to, let's say, go to a local Acura dealer or if I should get this situation solved elsewhere, or even self-do-it.

I had this issue about 6 months ago with my 07 TSX with 32k miles. Anyway, I want to say it cost somewhere in the range of $150-200 at Acura to have them turn the rotors. I will try to find the receipt..

You need pads and rotors. There are less expensive avenues for brake parts. But as you can imagine, in almost all cases, you get what you pay for. In your situation, I would go with Duralast (Autozone) rotors and get some RacingBrake pads. The warping issue comes from the poor pad formulation. Getting a better pad will reduce the likelihood of the warping issue ever coming back. As for the replacement, Acura will rob you blind. Try and find a local mechanic that has a good reputation. Brakes are critical safety equipment, so if you're not comfortable attempting the work by yourself, hire someone else to do it, or have a buddy that knows what he's doing come over and supervise.

I agree on the availability on less expensive set ups. There are a number of sets of rotors and pads on ebay for instance for short money that actually seem to work OK. You could do some research here (search for "rotors and pads" for instance) and probably come up with a recommendation or two. And I don't mean just someone saying "Gee I just got ABC pads and rotors for $190 and they work great". I'm talking about guys that have like over 20K miles and/or years of service from an under $300 set of rotors and pads for all 4 wheels (including me). And because of your location, you may be able to find a member to help you out, or check around and find a local shop that's reasonable. Doing a complete brake job (4 rotors and 8 pads) on a TSX is about the easiest brake job out there and should be fairly cheap.
