Question vibration question

6MT owners - do you feel slight vibrations through the pedals, as if engine vibrations were being transferred through the pedals while driving. Especially in higher revs. Do you feel similar vibration coming through the shift knob? Again, it's very slight. Also, when the car is in neutral and stopped and you rev it up to 3500 - 4000 RPMs, do you feel vibration coming through the gas pedal then?

Thanks.

If I am not mistaken this car has E-throttle aka drive by wire, and there is no way actual engine vibrations would be transfering through to the pedal- not that they should through a cable but less so with a wire. The engine may not have the smoothest idle and may be a little rough at higher RPM's however it shouldn't be getting transfered through the pedals! that's what the engine mounts are for. Some minor "feel" from all the pedals, shifter and steering wheel are often good things, they are what creates the "feel of the road" a car that is too refined makes you feel detached from driving.

Let me resurrect a dormant thread here.

My shift knob vibrates in 2nd and 5th (and 1st to a lesser extent) around 3.5K RPM and up. I replaced the stock bushings with metal but don't know if that is related to the problem. Problem is, I'm not sure if it did it before I went in there and replaced them.

When in fifth, for example, I feel like I have alot of play left to right in the shifter, and if I nudge if left or right, the vibration goes away, but I imagine that that may not be good for it. With the exception of swapping out the bushings, I'm pretty sure everthing went back together as intended.

Anyone else experience this? Know how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Please explain how much free-play. 10mm? 15mm? 20mm? If you have more than 10mm, then I would re-check the shifter installation.

I'd say definitely less than 10 mm. Bear in mind, I'm not using a short shifter right now, just the metal bushings. I had the Comptech SS in for awhile but wasn't completely satisfied with it so I took it out. So aside from the bushings, my setup is stock.
