Hi AcuraZine Community,



I need help diagnosing an issue related to the coolant flow on my 2007 Acura TSX.



Symptoms:

• Vehicle will not blow out hot air during winter months when the temp is at normal levels and car is idling.
• Vehicle will not blow out cold air during summer months when the temp is at normal levels and car is idling.
• Once the TSX is moving both AC and heat operate normally

Diagnostics:

• I drained the coolant from the radiator and changed the thermostat
• Ensured heater core valve is open and blew air through the hoses to remove any build up
• Ran car with radiator cap off and squeezed the hoses to remove bubbles
• The left heater core hose which goes into the water outlet is warm, the hose on the right was fairly cold
• Removed the hose coming from the cabin which goes into the left side of the heater core valve to see the water flow

There seems to be some sort of pressure issue... when coolant goes into the cabin radiator it doest come back out but when the car was rev’d up I saw water come out of the pipe. I also was able to shoot air though and see water spray out.

The car stays nice and toasty/chilly when driving at normal speeds.

I’m looking for any recommendations or further troubleshooting ideas. My next question is, shouldn’t my water pump be strong enough to force coolant out during idle?



For context, I’m living in upper MN with temps of ~10 degrees Fahrenheit right now.
