Tsx navi "please check disk"
I know there are a lot of other threads on this forum about the navigation systems on the TSX and other Hondas but I can't figure this out still. My navigation unit for my 2005 TSX hasn't ever worked properly since I bought it used. I used to get the Acura nav splash screen upon start up and then a "DVD read error. Please consult dealer"-- I did. They want $4000 for a new unit which is horseshit. I tried to clean the lens on the DVD unit with an alcohol swab and now all I can get from it is a black screen with green lettering saying "Dowloading software..." then it goes to another black screen with green lettering saying "Please check disk" and I can't even get any functions back I previously had (A/C control, XM, Radio Functions... Touch screen worked fine it was just the GPS/Map function that didn't) Any other ideas of what to do to fix this before I attempt to send it back to Alpine for the $160 cost?

You'll be disappointed to learn that Alpine has raised their price to over $350 recently. See other posts on this issue.
Check ebay and car-part.com for a used unit. You should be able to do better than $350, but not much better.
good luck
