Exclamation TSX easy to break into?

Hi:
Have any other TSX owners had their cars broken into?

Mine has twice so far. Both times my car was locked with the alarm set and they broke into it without setting the alarm or breaking glass. I don't think a jimmy bar was used either because there aren't any scratches on the glass and the rubber seals were not disturbed (there was an even coating of pollen across them from the trees).

I spoke with my local dealer and he indicated that a few other TSX owners have experienced the same thing. The only thing he can figure is that someone has duplicated the transmitting signal used by my remote.

Anyone else out there experiencing this - particularly in the San Francisco Bay area?

Thanks,

Wow...that sucks.

I only I can suggest is an aftermarket alarm with a backup battery. I have a couple of mods, and that's what I run in my TSX.

I once locked myself out of my car, and the AAA dude got it open pretty easy. he used somekind of spreader on the door. didnt leave any scratches or marks of anykind. but it did set off the alarm.

It's possible to break in a TSX without triggering the alarm, but this is not the place to discuss it. You never know who is reading the forum.

keep in mind, breaking in is one thing,

starting and driving away is another.

I find most cars are easy to break in

But seriously you can pry open the door a little bit(use rags between the door and pry bar) and a piece of brake line and hit the power unlock and your in like flint. I've done it literally 100's of times, not because I was breaking in to the car to steal anything, because a customer locked there keys in the car. They do make an inflatable wedge to use instead of a pry bar if your more comfortable with that. And god for bit its an old school car just use a lock pick set and it should take less then 20 seconds, this works on older cars that use single sided keys.

without the transponder chip of the key programmed to the car you cannot start the car. So they would have to hook up a computer to the car and program the chip to the car.

Some things are best left unsaid. WWW does stand for World Wide Web.

I am not a thief so I don't know how easy or hard it is. From what I understand there are much easier more desireable cars to steal <cough>S4<cough> Seeing as it would be expensive to retrofit any TSX parts onto other cars I don't think it will be a common car to steal for at least 5 years, if it ever becomes a problem. In fact I'd bet the RSX-S is going to be more common to see stolen, due to the K22 motor. The K24 isn't a racer's motor(with out putting a lot of money into it that is and even then engine managment is a problem) most ricer's would probably rather have a K22, I know I would. So the real question is not weather or not the TSX is easy or hard to steal, but rather is it worth stealing? And at this point I feel confident the answer is no.
