TSX accident in Toronto (Markham)
Hi all,
My tsx was in a fender bender today. Fairly small (no injuries, no major damages), but the cost to fix all the cosmetic damages done is going to be very high.
The lowdown: I was following a honda CRV at an intersection waiting to make a left turn onto Warden (two lanes each way). He turns left and ends up in the right lane on Warden. I turn left to the left lane (the appropriate lane!). As I start accelerating, I see him slow down beside me (on my right hand side). Next thing I know, he starts turning into my lane! I tried to swerve, but he clipped my passenger side rear door and continued to scrape my rear right wheel/tire, quarter panel and bumper. I had just finished making the left, so I could not have been going very fast, probably about 20-30km/h. He damaged his front bumper (his left side), lucky arse.
We got each other's info, went to the collision center, and then called our insurance companies to make our claims. I am sure hoping - since I'm not at fault - that his insurance company pays for everything, but we'll see what the adjuster says.
In the meantime, my insurance company suggested I get an appraisal at a body shop called Canco Car Star Collision (7 Laidlaw Blvd. in Markham). Does anyone know if these guys are good, or should I just get an appraisal from an Acura recommended body shop?
Any help would be greatly appreciated... what a headache this is...

So sorry to hear about your accident. Hope everything works out okay. I agree with MSZ, it's not your fault so someone should be paying for the repair.
What was the CRV's driver trying to do when changing from the right lane to the left?

It is by-law now in Ontario that you DO NOT have to agree with the body shop your insurance company suggested you to go to. You can pick and chose your own.
btw, sorry about what happened to your car.
Oh, I can refer you to a good but expensive body shop that I go to and since it's all covered by insruance, why not?
PM me and I'll give you the details since I know there are some mods out there on my ass checking to see if I'm "HELPING" another member and they'll give me shit again.

e_lectro: it actually wasn't a double left turn lane. It was a single. The other guy simply made a left turn into the right lane.
JeffTSX: thanks for the info. Actually, the insurance company guy was pretty nice and told me that I can pick any body shop I wanted. But he did say that the insurance company had a selection of suggested body shops. If I took my car to these suggested shops, the fixes would be guaranteed for the life of the car. Dunno if that makes a big difference or not though...

Maybe he was doing a U-turn.
The 3 layer paint is expensive to fix and apparently hard to blend well. I had a small patch on the rear fender painted for 400. I parked in the corner of all lots, and some dickweed still hit me.

Did you get your car fixed? I worked at Markham area as well and I feel for you... those stupid people. That's why I'll never go parallel or pass those who go to the wrong lane while left turning or right turning. There are lots of those people here...
I almost got hit twice today with people changing lane without shoulder checking... on HWY 401 once and 404 once... sigh...
BTW, I saw a white TSX just parking in front of a POI building right opposite to where I work. Is that you???? I can't see the back of the car and so I can't see if it has a spoiler on it or not.
