transmission box and power steering wheel flush??
today i had my 04 TSX serviced in the local dealer, they told me that my car's transmission box and power steering wheel are really dirty, so they suggested me doing a "flush" for these two places...with a charge around 300 usd
what does this "flush" do exactly?
is it something that really needs to be done?
will it harm the car if i don't do it?
is 300 usd a reasonable charge?
thank you guys

How many miles do you have on your TSX?
$300 is a rip off. You can buy the tranny fluid and the P.S. fluids for $40-50 and change them yourself in about an hour with the right tools.

You're not making much sense. First it is a power steering rack or a transmission case. Next question, what type of transmission do you have?
if you are an 04, then you are probably ready for the transmission fluid replacement. If they said flush, then I'm assuming 5AT.
Power steering flushes are rare to say the least. If they are doing it and show you proof, then fine.

i have a 04 5AT with 36000 miles on it.
dealer suggested me doing "power steering flush" and "transmission flush", the point is not to change the fluid, it's to "flush" these two areas over and over again so they will be clean (i guess).
has anyone ever heard or done this "flush thing", if so, is it necessary? is 300 usd (fluids + labor + tax) a fair price??
thanks

Listen, they're selling service to you without a doubt. Technically you aren't due for a ATF change yet. Check the FAQ section and ask your stealership why they are performing services outside their window. I mean, if they want to be preventative, then it shouldn't cost you anything. Tell them that.

What a crock of shit. A Honda with 36000 miles doesn't need any of these things. A transmission fluid change would probably be beneficial but not neccessary.
And where exactly is this $300 going? Last time I checked a transmission flush bottle cost less than $20 and I have never seen a Power-steering flush product, but if they exist, I don't think they're more than $20.
You're telling me it takes $250 of labour to open a plug, pour some fluid inside, sit on your ass and let the car run for a few minutes, then drain?!!
