Tighten Gas Cap

I have a 2006 TSX and just got this message "Tighten Gas Cap". The dealer says to wait for 3 days while it cycles through. It's been 3 days. Anyone else have this problem. Looks like its' off to the dealer service department I go.

how many times have you driven your car in the 3 days? It should go away after 3-4 times driven after you tightened your gas cap. You did tighten it, right?

The 2006 shows messages now? Damn! Us 05 owners have to get a code reader, and the 06 just tells people everything!

I've driven it 4 times in 3 days after tightening the gas cap. Dealer won't do warranty work on saturday so I have to take a day off to let them screw with it.]

It should have gone away. You can clear it yourself by resetting the ECU (disconnect the battery leads for 5 min.) and see if it comes back. Just make sure you have the radio and navi codes before you do that. Or, just let the dealer deal with it. Good Luck.

Um just for posterity here, the owner's manual says exactly to do that. I don't have one here, and even if I did it would be for an '04, but it specifically says that you must close the cap until you hear a few clicks. 3 could be reasonably defined as a few. If you don't hear the clicks your cap is not completely closed.
