Throwing in the towel...

So after I took to a couple different places to try and get it fixed I took my 2004 TSX to the dealer for one last chance. It needs a new timing chain and the power steering block is leaking. it has 173,000 miles on it so I guess its time to say goodbye. How long have your tsx's lasted? What should I try and get for it??

Why do you need a new timing chain? What is wrong with it? Can the car be driven as is?

My understanding is that the timing chain is good for the life of the car. It does not need to be replaced.

Some members have reported stretched timing chains.

You have perhaps $1000 of repairs. You might do better by finding a Acura specialist shop to perform repairs, or bettery yet DIY.

W/o the repairs, price will be perhaps $1500-$2000. I think you'll get more value by having repairs performed and then selling privately, but not an easy decision.

good luck

I agree. Who would buy a car knowing that it needs work, and fairly expensive work at that (I assume you wouldn't try to sell it without "fessin up")? Oh, and I have 173K miles in my 05, with no problems to date (other that mainly routine wear and tear).
