was there ever a TSB for the brakes?
i know a ton of us here have had issues with our breaks and vibrations/warped rotors/whatever it is. anyway, my car has had this for quite a while and i'm going to go try and get it fixed. i was wondering if there was ever a TSB on this issue that i can go to the dealer with. i saw they finally issued one for the door rattle, but of course my car is outside the vin range! my rattle isn't bad though, it's rare actually
anyway, the brake thing is driving me nuts and i've gotta drive to florida soon so i wanted to get it fixed if anyone has a TSB # or more info on what acura's policy is on this that would be great.

I recently had the front rotors and brake pads replaced for free under warranty at 26,000 miles. The dealer where I bought the car had machined the rotors when they warped the first time at about 10,000 miles, but refused to replace them. I recently started taking the car in for service to another dealer, who has been much more cooperative, and easier to deal with.

Rotors that have warped and been machines will warp again!
Once a rotor warps, it will most likely leave hotspots of where it warped. The rotor will warp again in the same spots and this time quicker becuase the rotor is also thinner from the warping. Always insist on rotor replacement when they warp.
One other thing is dont let the dealer use an impact wrench on your lugs. The impact wrenches torque up to 400lbs of torque. If they insist that impact wrenching is ok, go home and use a torque wrench and retorque all lugs to 85lbs.
Even with a torque limiter on the impact wrenches, there's still no way to get even tightness on all of the lugs with an impact wrench.
But dealers like to use them because they are 25 times quicker than hand tightening. The really nice high performance wheel and tire places will ALL tighten by hand.

If they use an impact wrench even with a torque limiter, there's no way to tighten the lugs correctly. The correct way is to go on a star pattern and tighten gradually. If you use an impact wrench, it'll keep turning until it stops.
If a wheel is on there with the lugs overtorqued or uneven, you will get a vibration.
