Maybe they will just give us all 2005's instead of worrying about fixing it

Recall for TSX
Today heard from the radio, recall for TSX. reguard for the either left or right head light. Honda is worry about the bad seal for the head lightso the moisture can go into the head light assemble. That recall is also for the JDM and euro accord. and also told me that there is around 6000 TSX in canada..

They are recalling 40,000 of them .. so isnt that pretty much all TSX's that were sold? Thats odd since we knew about this problem since the first month the TSX was out .. so they must have known as well. Goes to show you that making changes on the manufactoring or assembly side takes a very long time.

Reading the story, it seems they're recalling to fix two different problems:
1) Headlight seals. Seems to impact only JDM Accords.
2) Tape insulation on trunk wiring. Seems to impact everything. It's pretty clear from the story that this recall only impacts the trunk wiring for US and Canadian vehicles.
My car's going to be in tomorrow, so I'll ask.

In the USA, 40,060 Acura TSX sedans, produced between June 2002 and June 2004, will be recalled. They are affected only by the defective tape, the company said.

Here's another link with info on the recall. It describes the recall as dealig with the rear lights.

TSX Among the Recalled
The Acura TSX is one of the vehicles involved in a recall issued by Honda. Honda says it will recall 158,187 cars sold in Japan, the United States, and 39 other countries to fix problems with lights: in the TSX recall, tape used to seal wiring leading to the vehicle's rear lights fails, as do the lights themselves as a result. About 40,060 Acura TSXs could be affected by the problem. No accidents or injuries have been reported due to the problem, a spokeswoman told Reuters.

jeffb, according to the Globe article, it is the rear lights, however supposedly it's due to defective tape that lets go, allowing the trunk to close on the wires, eventually "killing" the rear lights. That's how I understand it.

So, the dealer just called, and although there is no recall on the headlights when they did inspect mine they found some moisture on the left hand side and replaced the assembly.

So does anyone else have the wire problem in the trunk? I noticed mine had ripped out a month or two ago and it was on my list of things to report when I next took it in for oil change (any time now). Now I'm thinking the service departments are going to be swamped, so I'm not sure what kind of service quality I'll get if I make an appointment now...

Ya, my dealer confirmed it was the REAR lights...letters should be going out at the end of the month. At least in Canada.

The recall is for the rear tail lights. Read the article carefully before stating things. It's a simple fix. Basically while opening and closing the trunk it strangles and rips the wire harness. The idiots at the Japan factory forgot to put a wire loom over it before they tied it up with a zip tie clip.

Concerned about safety? So is Acura. That's why Owner Link provides up-to-date recall information about your vehicle. Because Owner Link recall listings are based on your Acura's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), they are specific to your vehicle.
There are no current safety recalls for your 2004 Acura Tsx.
If you experience problems or you have further questions, contact your dealer for assistance.
You can also find more information from:
Interesting that they are recalling 25,000 more cars then were supposed to be produced......hummmmmmm false advertising maybe?

It may take a couple weeks to get the Owner's link updated.

I got mine fixed when I took it in for service last week. But nobody ever mentioned the recall, so I don't know if they fixed it "properly"... it still looks like something's missing, but they used some electrical tape and just taped the wire around the hinge beam... I guess it should hold for a while. Anyone got pictures of it before and after?
I should have taken a pic before I got it fixed, but I don't have a camera :P

I just got mine too... I wonder if I still need to, since they already "fixed" that problem.
It says "the dealer will install a protective covering over the harness to prevent damage"... I don't see a protective covering; the wire tube is just taped... but I wonder if that tube is what this "protective covering" is..
