strong shaking, popping noises

Recently, my '04 TSX was shaking really bad at idle. In addition to that, you could hear a pop every few seconds through the tailpipe. At WOT, the car would also shake quite bad. Took it to my usual Acura dealer and they pulled 2 codes from the ECU, one that the piston speed was too fast and the second that their was CYL 1 missfire. The dealer, NW Acura in Calgary, told me that I had missed a shift, and that I had bent the valves in the motor as a result. I haven't missed a shift in years, so had a hard time believing that, and even if I had, I can't see a missed shift doing that much damage. I took it to the other dealer in Calgary, Silverhill, and they said that it was the coil, and replaced it. Didn't fix the problem, then they further diagnosed it (at no charge!) and found it to be an intermittent fuel injector, which when replaced, did fix the problem. Just a heads up if you have the same problem! And don't trust the dealer!

if you had not taken the car to the other dealership, they would have stuck you will the bill. Call acura client services and complain. This will help save some other people going to that dealership to pay for unnecessary items.

Tell NW Acura what happened at the Calgary dealer and that you will be taking your servicing business elsewhere. I can't stand dealers that don't do proper diagnostics before pinning the blame on the owner.

um... missing a shift would cause one cylinder to misfire and another piston to turn too fast? riiiight.
