Steering wheel controls - are they supposed to be lit?

On my first night drive, I noticed that none of the steering wheel controls are lit. I thought to myself "heck, back in the day my '89 Tempo "Sport" had lights on the cruise control buttons!!". I think this is very low end for a TSX level car

Then I read the '05 TSX brochure, and it states that the controls are supposed to be lit at night, and it isn't noted that it is a change from the '04 model like the power passenger seat is. My car doesn't have the owner's manual, which the dealership has ordered for me. So, my long winded question is - are the '04 steering wheel controls supposed to be lit?

But you can install 05 steering wheel controls in your 04 if want to.

The lit steering wheel and extra ambient lighting did not come along until 05.

The non lit steering wheel control doesn't bother me. After all, you remember the buttons after a few minutes in the car.

The extra "blue" ambient light, the power passenger seat, lit steering wheel, XM radio, and heated mirrors.

It's located by the reading/map lights...it shines an "ambient" blue light onto the shifter.

That's why I was wondering what the "extra" ambient lighting was. I thought maybe they added a second blue light or something...

My 04 has that ambient light (the one near the map lights as well as the one below the first storage compartment) and heated mirrors as well.

I believe the only changes from 04 to 05 here in Canada are the lighted steering wheel buttons and power passenger seat. Maybe XM radio as well, not sure about that here in Canada.

The 2005 lighted steering wheel buttons are black... I prefer the silver buttons on the 2004s.

If you need to take your eyes off the road to look down at the steering wheel controls you should probably park it and practice until your more proficient. The whole point of having the controls on the wheel is so you *don't* have to look down or take your hands off the wheel.
