Steering pulls to a side under braking

I've noticed that under braking and when I run over a pot hole, the steering kind of loosens all of a sudden for a couple of seconds and seems to freely turn to one side. But in a straight line at cruising speeds the steering is pretty steady.

Is it a wheel balancing / alignment issue or something more serious?

Thanks
Sunil

I'm actually having the same issues right now. Took it an alignment shop and they said that everything is to spec. They blamed it on tire pull. I rotated the front 2 tires and the problem remains. I'm now thinking that it has something to do with the front brakes. I went on a flat road and when I applied the brake, the steering wheels shook (due to warped rotates I believe) and settled to the left, making the car pull left. I have already taken apart the front left caliper to see if anything was jammed but everything seemed fine. I'm gonna have to have a mechanic look at it next time I go for an oil change. Let me know if you figure out your problem. Might be the same issue.

I stopped trying to figure out what the problem is. My 30k mi service is due in another 1500mi, so will just have the dealership look into it then.

If you figure something out, please do share.

Thanks
