start up problem

I bought a new '06 tsx about three months ago. Every once in a while when i turn the key to start the car, nothing happens. There is no engine noise or anything. On the second try it starts no problem.

This has happened about five times and I am worried that it will start to happen more consistently.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Do you mean the starter doesn't even engage? Do you loose your saved radio stations? I would start with looking at the battery ground and power.

i dont lose the saved radio stations. The interior lights remain on and if i have the radio on it will stay on as well. There is no clicking or anything when i turn the key.

I found the thread below... it seems like a similar problem, but i dont have to pump my brakes or anything to get it started.

I have an '06 TSX as well, and have been experiencing the same problem for almost the entire time. I'm kind of thinking it has something to do with the car not recognizing the chip in the key quick enough and the interlock kicks in and prohibits the start. On the second try, the car has had time to recognize the key and would allow the start. Does anyone know of a TSB on this?

it might be your ignition switch is just wearing out....
common problem but just weird cuase your car is still new. maybe they did a recall for that part? thats the only thing i can think of...
you could try taking out the ignition switch and with a screwdriver the plastic part turning it and seeing if it starts fine. if so with no problems then it might be that....
happened in my 94 civic in the past, same problem, went to junk yard replaced the ignition switch started like brand new again

It's normal guys. It happened to me a few times when I first got the car. After getting use to how my car works, I never had the same problem again.

but if your battery was out when you try to start the car, you would hear a clicking noise for a quick bit then hear nothing at all.
plus you would hear at least the motor try to turn

I've had that start happening to me a few days ago. I was leaving work (Jun 22, 07).. my MID says it was 89F... I went to turn the key and I hear nothing. No sound. Then I turn the key again, it started right up.

I have a 2006, took delivery of my new vehicle in Nov 2006.

I'm just thinking this is an anomaly as this was my first experience. I'll keep an eye on it.
