two days ago i heard a slight squeal while turning wheel all the way down to the right while getting out from the parking lot. After researching all the possible threads, i checked the power steering fluid and getting it checked at my dealer. Worse case i would order a honda ps fluid and fix it by myself if they charge more than $80
It turned up that nothing wrong with the ps, its the rack and pinion instead!!!
I freaked up for a while, what could've I done wrong with my 'unaggressive' driving style that I possibly broke my rack and pinion?! and It was an 06, so its been only less than 2 years!

Well, I'm glad that my dealer took that problem under my warranty, and i just got it fixed today.
I know some dealers are such an a$$ regarding warranty and stuff, but I'm glad i got my car from this one.
There's one thing I hate about them, which is loaner car policy; No one under 21 are allowed to drive a loaner... which has made me sitting for almost 4 hours today.

I dont know about this, but it seems that all hondas have pretty weak front end mechanics. I dont know if it has anything to do with FWD...

 

That squeal, I hear a similar sound too. It's very low and sounds almost like a decompression sound for me. I should get mine looked @... I also hear a clicking sound sporadicaly when turning the wheel allt he way to the left. Any idea what issue that might be?

 

i had the same clicking noise also, took it to the dealer and they replaced the rack and pinion

Mine sounds a bit like two legs of the nylon track pants rubbing briefly. Is this the same sound?

 

SLR, what exactly was wrong with the rack and pinion steering? I have an 2006 too with 15K miles and my steering squeals everytime I turn it. It is time to go to the dealer for service, but just wanted to know what they might tell me.
