Sport Shift problems

Hey All,

Well it looks like I'm having sporatic problems when I'm in sport-shift mode.

During my trip back from Atlanta I was using sport-shift mode for about 90% of the drive.

I noticed that when I went to downshift the car didn't downshift and when I looked at my instrument cluster I could see the M lit up so I knew I was in manual mode but the numbers corresponding to what gear I was in was not active. I pulled over and shut the car off and when I started it back up again I was able to put the car in sport-shift mode and I saw the numbers corresponding to the gear I was in.

This happened twice on my drive up.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem? If so, what was the fix?

I have a little over 102k miles on the car so far....
The only thing changed was the tranny fluid before I started my trip...I can't think of any sensors that I could have accidentally touched/messed up

Thanks,
Jason

Could it be the power from the supercharger is starting to cause problems with the tranny?

Were you using cruise control? If so, I thought I read that you shouldn't while in Sport-shift and that could be causing a problem.

How about I put half of it in red since I was only half kidding?

I can't see how anything mechanical would be affecting that, I'm guessing electronic problems... which is bad. I would ordinarily say 'dealer', but this is your car we're talking about.

What up Jason and Kevin! Nice meeting you guys in MD

I've never had this problem J. I've driven in SS mode about 75% of the time since getting my SC about 45K miles ago. Now that I think about it though, maybe it was not letting you downshift because it would have put you in too high of an RPM. I've seen the tranny do that before. Next time it happens, upshift a a gear or two, and then see if you are able to downshift.

What RPMs were you at when you were trying to downshift?
What gear were you in?
Was the engine under load? Next time, you might want to check the MAP reading on the Brockway and see what it's at. And/or try letting off the throttle to let the RPMs drop, and then downshifting.

I think the biggest indicator is the display for gear number turning off. That's clearly a problem if its happening repeatedly.

i agree with this.

fwiw, i drive in SS mode 99% of the time and i've never had this problem, but i only had 13k mi on the car. in addition, when in SS mode, the display always shows what gear # you're on.

i would have it checked out.

ps: i've never had any issues with SS mode and cruise control. i don't see why it wouldn't be recommended.

Oh dang, I misread it before and didn't realize that the number wasn't even showing up. Yeah, definitely keep us posted on if it happens again.
