Somebody backed into my car @ work.. :(
99.9% of the time I park off in a corner at work where it's safe from dings, because people are simply too damn lazy to walk. However, being a few minutes late this morning I decided to park closer to the door by my office.
I walked out to my car mid-morning to get some papers and the car looked fine, but between that time and lunch time somebody placed a nice ugly ding on my front hood. I'm guessing some idiot in a truck/SUV tried reverse parking and failed, and of course they didn't leave a note.
I spoke to my secretary/building manager and they said I'm SOL and need to pay out of pocket since I didn't see the person back into my car. I'll probably go to a body shop or two during lunch tomorrow and later the Acura dealer, but any idea as to how much I'm looking at? It went right through the paint as you can see, am I going to be screwed into painting the whole hood now?

Sorry to hear about your car's damage. I had a similar incident at work. If possible, see if your building has any security cameras on the parking lot (most companies do these days for security purposes).
When I copied the video of a FedEx truck sidswiping my car as it backed into a parking spot there was no way they could argue the damage.
You might at least be able to identify what other car hit you & then try to go after their insurance company.

^^ good idea, I'll give that a shot tomorrow. I saw a white cargo van with a messed up rear-passenger side bumper from my office window at the end of the day..it was high enough to have caused the damage, but since I have no proof I can't really accuse them of anything.

it's a car-drive it
sorry to hear-
Our '11 hyundai sonata was less than a month old when someone must have backed into the parking space next to our car too close. Our car now has a big deep scratch on the back end of it. They left no note either.
