shaky steering, lots of snow

Hey guys,

Yesterday and the day before my car was running perfectly fine. It snow here in jersey yesterday and the highway were a disater. This morning on my way to school, my car was shaking (the steering wheel was shaking about 1in each way) vigrously. It was pretty annoying.

When i got out of the car, i noted there was alot of snow stuck in my wheel well, and there was a good amount of snow in the suspension (in the springs especially).

I'm wondering if this could be the source of the proble, im going to try to get some hot water to get it off. But i'm wondering how that could even be the cause.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

mike

Sounds likely. It demonstrates why tires are balanced on the rim with weights.

I've had that happen to me before when snow gets packed on the inside of the rim. The vibration was pretty bad, but after about 15 minutes at highway speeds, the snow spun off and it was back to normal.

it most likely is the snow, snow build up inside your rim will especially cause this....

same here yungwunn911, I am experiencing the same problem when I drive on Rte. 80 at the speed close to 60 Mph and if i drive slower, the shaking is not as noticeable. And thank god, my car went back to normal after I went over a bump on the road and heard chunks of ice/snow fell, guess most of the snow that ice-up that got stuck inside got out.

or just stop and get some of it out... coin-op high pressure spray is usually hot to warm water...

depending on the weather if it's too cold it wont' fall out on it's own...

Looks like you threw your wheels out of balance. Use some deicer to get rid of some of that snow. If it's cold enough, even with warm water, that water/melted snow will freeze in no time again.

yeah, i think the wheels were definitely off balance. This morning the ride was smooth again! I was so happy. However, i have a slight pull to the left.
