Scratch on Radio Display

Hey, I scratched the plastic plate over the radio display on the dash (non navi) and was wondering what I should do about it. Its not that bad and can only be seen when the sun hits it right but it still bugs the hell out of me. Is there anything that will buff it out (its kinda deep but not too bad). How much to replace if its even worth it, which it wont be unless it will only be less than 50 bucks. Any other suggestions would be helpfull? Oh and for the record, I scratched it using an extension for my vacum cleaner and no I was not smart enough to use the one with the brush on it.

get something called Displex, it's a plastic display polisher. I use it on my cellphone, and also on my car radio display (since it's a removable faceplat, it can get scratched being moved all the time), and any other plasic surface that is scratched for me. I've even used it to buff a scratch out of an old CD, but there are better solutions for CDs.

For what you wanna do, it should work fine, cause i've done it myself and Displex worked.

There's no real link to buy it on their site. Try ebay, froogle (froogle.google.com), etc. You should be able to find someone online in the US that sells it.

Try Brasso, you can get it at home depot, I use it on my iPod lcd and it can be used for watch faces as well, it should do the trick.

I use Novus plastics polishes for things like this: #1 is a cleaner without abrasives, #2 fine abrasives for fine scratches, #3 heavier abrasives. #2 would be my choice here, with a light touch until I figured out how hard or soft that plastic was. Novus is often sold by places that sell plexiglas (acrylic plastic) sheets, and there are lots of places that sell it online as well.

I've also used fine car swirl remover on plastics, but I wouldn't use it on something as visible and hard to replace as the radio faceplate. For this I prefer the confidence of using a product designed specifically for plastic.
