Is this a safe solution to headlight condensation?

Well one of my headlights was condensating so badly that it blew out one of my bulbs. To stop the condensation, I took off the rubber part behind the H1 High beam bulb. This lets air into the headlight regularly so the headlight does not condensate. Is this safe to do? I really don't want to burn out another bulb.

I would think that's going to make your problem worse instead of better since water will have a much easier time getting in there to start with.

no, that's not safe.

there really is no safe option besides sealing the lights properly.

are they stock?
if so bring it into the dealer and have them give you a new one.

there's no safe remedy besides stopping the problem.

what you're doing is like taking asprin for cancer.

EDIT:

okay, I see now that they're JDM lights.
well, I'd return them and demand replacements.
they probably sold you bad lights.

either that or you didn't install them correctly.
what company did you buy from?

it has actually gotten rid of the condensation completely. usually i would get condensation after a car wash, or in the early mornings. now I don't get any at all.

and yes, they are jdm headlights. I purchased them second hand, had them resealed, and this one headlight is still condensating. I have another one on order and it should be here in two months. I just don't want my bulb to blow again within these next two months. I am just wondering if I am better off leaving the rubber part off.

well, if you're replacing it... then yeah.

you're doing fine.

do whatever you need to while waiting to not blow another bulb.

This is what i did, the seal up top was leaking.

Caused by the hood pushing down on our headlight if not adjusted properly.
Thats probably where you get the small leak from.

Go get ATV gasket sealant and pry open the top and real seal it with that.

You don't have to pry much since i rather not bake my headlights you just need to get it in there and let it set.

I took off my headlights and used a blowdryer to get all the condensation out and water that leaked in one rainy day. (basically the seal split and my hood was a gutter for water into my headlight.

(this was 4 months ago so far no more condensation)

I thought the headlight condensation recall only applied to 2004 and 2005 TSXs. CGtsx07 , as the name implies, has a 2007. Anyone know about this?

I'm sure 06+ can get this fixed from the dealer too. I have JDM headlights so they can't really help me.

I think Colts was able to get the TSB performed on his JDM headlights at the dealer. It depends how cool your service guys are and if they're willing to help you out.

I'd go that route anyway, even if it means you have to pay for them to put the clips on, or buy the clips and put them on yourself. The clips were the fix for the 04-05 headlights, so I'd imagine they'd work on the 06+ as well.

The recall applies to 2006 too. I just recently had both of my headlights replaced with new ones.

new USDM headlights won't help me out lol. and i'm thinking those clips won't help either. I am betting it just needs needs to be baked and clamped a couple times, but unfortunately the headlights don't fit my oven
